"Dude." Jacob began, shutting Romeo's locker door. Romeo sighed and gave his best friend a nasty look.
"Woah, what's up?" Jacob asked, looking offended.
"Rough morning man,?" Romeo asked rubbing his eyes, "I slept through my alarm, so I had to run to school for morning practice. So now since I'm late, coach will make me run like five extra miles. It's been a great day so far."
Jacob looked nervously at him, "So you haven't heard?"
Romeo gave him an exhausted look, as if to say 'what now'.
"Ugh, dude. You got competition for lacrosse captain."
"Don't say it's" Romeo groaned.
"Hayden."
Hayden moved to Duwamps last year and joined the soccer team immediately. He hated how Romeo ran the team, calling him "Seattle's worst captain" and other stupid things.
Romeo looked at Jacob and fought the urge to smash his fist into his locker. Instead, he turned towards his locker and began hitting his head.
"But, dude, hey! I've got some news!" Jacob said pulling Romeo away from his locker. "I'm about to make your day. Look."
He grabbed a letter that was tapped to the inside of of Romeo's locker.
Jacob's eyes were bright and he had the biggest smile Romeo has ever seen him make, which was making him nervous.
"Dude, it an invitation to Ross Swans' annual party tomorrow and we were both invited."
Romeo stared at it.
"How did I miss that?" he thought, "More importantly, how'd they get into my locker."
Romeo looked at him amazed. "We were invited?" he thought, "How?"
"Yo, those parties are legendary, we gotta go!" Romeo exclaimed.
"That's what I like to hear, kid. This party will be the most legendary one of all, I can feel it." Jacob laughed, putting his arm around Romeo's shoulders. "Now let's get to the locker room before coach kills us."
♥♥♥
"Yo, Hayden! You snatch an invite to Swans' party?" Jacob practically screamed at Hayden while walking into the locker room.
"Of course! You going?" Hayden asked Jacob, slipping on his soccer jersey.
Every morning before school, the boy's soccer team meets an hour and half before school starts to practice. You don't get number one in the state by just practicing after school.
"Totally! What about, Romeo?" Hayden asked, putting stress on his name.
"Duh!" Romeo replied awkwardly, making Jacob laugh at him.
Romeo hated Jacob, mainly because he wanted to steal his role as captain. He was constantly trash-talking Romeo, especially to the team. Talk about bitter.
"What about you 'Pretty Boy', you get invited?" Romeo asked, walking in Isaac's direction.
Hayden looked at Jacob and rolled his eyes. Did I forget to mention Romeo can kinda he an asshole?
"Yea." Was all Isaac said.
Well being an asshole to an asshole isn't bad.
"What about you, badass?" Jacob asked, trying to sound like Romeo.
"If you pussies are going, I think I'll pass." Dane said, slamming his gym locker shut, glaring daggers at Jacob and Romeo.
Hayden held back laughter while Jacob slunk back a bit, a little stunned.
"There will be a lot of alcohol." Jacob persisted.
Dane gave him a slide eye. "Like I haven't been to a party with alcohol."
"Plus, I don't need invites. I just show up." Dane said slamming his gym locker shut, "Like anyone would stop me."
With that, Dane made his grand exit, leaving everyone speechless and confused.
"No way a heathen like that would get invited." Isaac joked, leaving the locker room as well.

About an hour later, June Michaels trudged into school, watching everyone run around with white envelops and acting way too happy at seven in the morning. She ignored the disarray of her classmates and headed straight to her locker, where the twins, Penelope and Hazel, were waiting with their faces glued to their phones.
"What is all this about?" June asked them, drawing their attention away from their phones.
"Ross Swans' annual party invitations went out and of course we didn't get one." Hazel sighed, resting her head on one of the lockers next to mine.
"Why? I always hear terrible stories?" Penelope asked, surprised at her sister.
June was anything but surprised Hazel wanted to be invited to this dumb party. Hazel always wanted to be part of the "In Crowd". She's always felt out of place, poor thing.
"Like what? People dancing, drinking, finding love-"
"People getting their lives ruined from dumb bets!" Penelope fought.
Hazel and June exchanged looks.
"Yea, like people's lives get ruined from dumb little high school parties." June thought.
"Whatever, just be glad we didn't get invited. Now, let's go find the others." Penelope said, trying to defend herself.
See, I think this party sounds fun! Well fun for me at least.
Ross' parties are legendary for a reason. Is it because people have the time of their life like Hazel said? Or do people's' lives get ruined like Penelope said? I don't know, but I like Penelope's idea better.
Wait, I do know! Silly me, but you don't. Well you will all see soon enough.
bye babes
