The next morning wasn't like I was used to. The sun was shining at 8:00 in the morning. Great. My first day of school. I was not looking forward to this. I climbed out of bed and went to my closet. LA was alot different than New York. I did see some teenagers wearing skinny jeans, and sneakers and boots and tanks. I had to plan carefully. After I finished getting ready, I went downstairs into the kitchen.

"Good morning Ashley.", my mom said.

"Morning Mom."

"First day of scool. Well, for you. Are you ready?"

"Not really. But I guess I don't really have a choice do I?"

"Mmm...no. Come on. You better get going. Oh, by the way...we traded your car in."

"WHAT?!"

"Don't worry. You'll like this one. Trust me."

"Mom! That was the last thing I had of grandpa before he died. Please tell me that you kept the picture I had in the car."

"Yes, yes. It's in your new one. Trust me, honey. You'll like this one."

"Whatever. Just hand me the keys please."

"Here. Have a good day."

"Don't count on it. Bye."

I walked out the door and stopped in the driveway. Great. They traded in my jeep for a Camaro. I loved my jeep. It was the last thing my grandpa gave to me before he died last year. The only thing I have left is a picture of me and him from when I was little. I let it slip from my mind and got in the car. I hesitated before starting the car. All night I kept thinking about the strange boy that kept appearing in my dreams.

I walked into the huge school and went to the office.

"Hi. Can I help you?", asked the receptionist.

"Hi. I'm new here. My parents came up here the other day."

"Alright. Name, please?"

"Ashley Gonzales."

"Okay...ah, yes. You're from New York?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Okay. Well, here's your school schedule and map of the school."

"Thanks."

"Welcome to West High. I could show you to your first class if you'd like."

"That'd be great."

"Okay. Right this way."

The receptionist showed me to my first class. Great. Trigonometry.

"Right through here."

I stepped inside the classroom and waited at the door.

"Hi, Mrs. Carter. You have a new student."

"Wonderful. What's your name?"

"Oh, Ashley. Ashley Gonzales."

"It's nice to meet you Ashley. Take a seat right back there."

"Thanks."

I walked to the back of the classroom and sat down. I looked to my left and there was a strange boy sitting next to me.

"Hi.", the boy said.

"Hey.", I replied back.

"I'm Vladimir. Vladimir McIntyre. My friends call me Vlad."
