"What's going on Vlad?"

"I can't hide it longer. I...I can't...I can't keep trying to distance my self from you."

"What do you mean?"

"Ever since you walked into Trigonometry...I felt..."

"You felt something between us?"

"Yeah. I have to tell you something. But, you have to promise to keep a secret."

"I promise."

''Well, I'm sure you're wondering why I'm always in the shade or why I don't eat the school food."

"What're you trying to say?"

"I'm...I'm not normal. I'm not like everyone else. I mean, I'm not entirely human."

"What do you mean, 'not entirely human'?"

"I mean, I'm not like everyone else."

"So...what are you?"

"A vampire."

"A...vampire?"

"Yes. Now you know what I am. I can understand if you're scared and don't want to see me ever again."

"No. Of course not. Just do me a favor."

"What?"

"Let me see your face. I wanna see what you really look like."

"I don't think that's such a good idea. I don't want you to see the monster I am."

"Please? Trust me."

I stepped closer to Vlad and took off his hood. He had piercing red eyes, black, messy hair that almost covered his eyes, and two sharp fangs.

"Wow. You're amazing."

"Amazing? Ashley, I am a killer. You have no idea what I'm capable of doing. You should be scared of me."

"Well, I'm not. Why should I be scared?"

"If I wanted to, I could slaughter a whole town right now. How does that not scare you?"

"Because. I know who you are deep down inside. And I know if you really tried, you wouldn't be a monster. Like people think you are."

"You really don't know what I can do Ashley. You should be afraid of me. That's how it's always been."

"Well, maybe things can change. What's it gonna take for me to convince you that I'm not afraid of you? What do I have to do?"

"There's nothing you can do."

"I'm sure there's something I can do. Maybe we should hang out. Maybe that will change your mind."

"Ashley, please..."

"Here."

I took off the chain I was wearing and put it around his neck.

"I may not know anything about being a vampire, but when I would have my moments, I always thought about something that made me happy. So, if you ever get a feeling of hate or anger, just remember the chain you have on."

"Thanks. I should, uh, I should get you home."

"Yeah. My mom will start freaking out."

He didn't say anything else. He walked to the driver's side and got in. I got in after him and shut the door. He started the car and sped off towards my house. We arrived at my house 20 minutes later.

"Thanks for hanging out with me, Ashley."

"Sure. No problem. I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

"Yeah. See you tomorrow."
