Chapter 4: Trouble

The next morning was not like the usual. I heard voices coming from downstairs and it was 10:00 on Saturday. My parents didn't get up until around noon so I knew something was up. I headed downstairs to see what was going on. I was surprised to see my mom and dad in the kitchen cooking breakfast on Saturday. Vladimir was sitting at the bar laughing and talking with my parents. I got the impression that my parents were comfortable with me dating Vladimir now.

"Good morning Ashley.", my mom said."

"Good morning sweetheart.", my dad said.

"Morning. Am I missing something here? You guys don't get up till noon. Why are you up so early?"

"Well, we had a little outing planned for today.", my dad said.

"An outing?"

"Yep. We didn't know what to do, so Vladimir suggested we go to the aquarium and the zoo.", my mom added.

"Ah, it was nothing Mrs. Gonzales.", Vladimir said

"No. It's a great suggestion. Here Ashley. Have some breakfast and get dressed. Big day ahead of us."

"Okay. Thanks Mom."

I ate my breakfast with my parents and it felt pretty good to eat with my mom and dad. My mom offered Vlad some breakfast but he politely said no and that he was a vegitarian. I looked at Vlad and he winked at me.

"Well, that was good Mom. I'm gonna get dressed. I'll be right back."

"Okay. Dress comfortably. It's going to be 92 today. I suggest no jeans.", my mom said.

"Okay, Mom."

I left the kitchen and went to my room. I scanned through my closet to find something that didn't involve wearing jeans. I went through my dresser and found a pair of shorts and a tank top. I got dressed and went back downstairs.

"Well, now that she's ready, why don't we head out?"
