"The Water[s] was pretty conceptual...
Water is a direct metaphor for the truth, [which is] just as important as water is to the world, to our lives, to our well-being. By truth I mean the true nature of things like beauty, success and wealth – what those things really are as opposed to what the media pushes and would lead us to believe that those things are. What the world standard for beauty is as opposed to the fact that beauty is everywhere – we're all God's creations and we're all beautiful, and that's the real truth. So when I say drink more water, when I say I've been in these waters, when i reference water like that, it's really synonymous with saying "Learn more things, gain more knowledge and seek more truth." That's just the basic synopsis of The Water[s]: an introduction to this water or to this truth."- Mick Jenkins x The Water[s]

"Hmm," the young man hummed as he examined the small squid in the large glass tank across from him, a gel pen to his lips.
The squid was supposed to be way bigger than this, but unfortunately, Zayn couldn't find it still, deciding to postpone his search and get much needed rest.
But he still studied the smaller squid, all its tentacles and the shiny gray outer skin of the species. It just floated around, sometimes making what seemed like eye contact every once in a while. Its whole eye was black, so who knew?
Zayn sure didn't.
He sacrificed a lot just to be here, living on his own but not so far away from civilization to where he couldn't call anyone. The pacific west coast, somewhere beside California where he swore on his God he heard about a giant squid sighting.
Maybe he didn't hear about it here.
Whatever, he ended up actually living on this mountain, building a nice sized house -- he was pretty loaded -- and even a lab where he studied his animals. He was now independent, not caring what his biologist friends thought when he first expressed his interest in the unknown.
Zayn tapped the glass, trying to get the squid's attention but realizing that scared him. He squirted out ink and the whole tank was now a black film and Zayn couldn't spot the creature at all. He sighed, deciding that was enough for today and shrugging off his lab coat to put on the hook.
Zayn closed the door behind him and walked to his bedroom. He met his dog halfway, petting his head and continuing to stride upstairs.
There was a noise outside, a bird like song but it sounded strangled and screechy. He turned around , frowning as he opened the front door and stepped outside into the cool night.
"Hello?" he called, shivering at the wind the waves were creating, he looked around the vast shore, mostly near the rocks, spotting nothing. He called out again and the sound was now gone. "O...kay," he just shrugged, walking back in the house and closing the door.
Little did he know, someone or something needed help.
