Alli's POV

At exactly 7:08 am on October 17, 2015 my mother died due to drug overdose. That morning was full of sobbing and phone calls. The worst part was I couldn't even call my father, he was already on a plane to come over from America.

I called Tobin and she was astonished. We remained on the phone crying together for about an hour. Most of my team had come to the hospital to comfort me and so did Neymar's. I was overwhelmed, everybody was.

That afternoon Dr. Zurik told me the worst news I had ever heard.

"The medication she was taking for her seizures made her have suicidal thoughts. That overdoes was no accident. I'm so very sorry. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts."

I covered my mouth with my hand as the tears started to spill out of my eyes and down my face again. We suspected that was what happened but now she's gone, for real. She's not asleep anymore, she's dead.

"I'm so sorry," Neymar said from beside me. He pulled me into his arms. We stayed in each other's embrace for a while before a familiar voice that wasn't Dr. Zuriks interrupted us.

"Alli!"

I turned around to see my dads figure standing there, broken.

"Dad," I said barely in a whisper. "She's gone."

He nodded his head and slowly made his way towards me. All at once he hugged me tighter than ever before.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't here, Alli. So sorry."

"It's okay, dad. You're here now, that's all that matters."

My father and I hugged each other for so long crying, I started to feel bad for Neymar. We finally let go of each other and there was Neymar, awkwardly standing there.

"Oh! Dad, this is Neymar. Neymar, this is my dad."

I introduced the two and they shook hands.

"Have you been with Alli the whole time? Thank you so much! I was hoping she wouldn't have to go through this alone."

•••

It's been a week since my mom passed away. The funeral for her was held two days ago. Neymar has been with me throughout the whole experience and I couldn't be happier and more grateful.

Anyway, today is the game against Almería. It will be my first time playing for Barça and I was so incredibly nervous.

"You'll be fine," Alexia comforted me.

"Oh my god, Alli," Laura complained. "You're far better than half this team, you have no reason to be nervous." Laura said and earned a couple of offended 'heys' from a few of the other players.

"Thanks. Even if I was the best player in the world I'd still be nervous."

I slid on a red and blue jersey with the last name "Walker" proudly printed about the yellow 11 (ok so Alexia is actually number 11 but let's pretend she's number 12).

"Ladies, it's time," Marta yelled.

I took one more deep breath and began walking out to the pitch with Alexia gripping my hand very tightly.

The announcer announced the two teams and the starting lineup. Oddly enough, I was a starter and wasn't scheduled for a substitute and it's my first game for this team.

Soon enough we were on the pitch waiting for the game to start. Almería had kickoff considering they were the away team.

They maintained good possession of the ball for about three minutes due to lack of pressure coming from our team.
