I woke up, feeling as if someone knocked the wind out of me. I touch my shining black hair and think about what just happened. The dream, it’s back. The last time I had it, was when I was 14.

“IVY!”, a shrewd tiny voice called, unfortunately 14 is the age of the sister I have.

“Are you deaf or just ignorant?”, she said.

“What do you want, Via?’, i respond.

“It’s 7 am and you're not downstairs. Your limit is 5 minutes.”, she said as she arrogantly stomped out of the room, with her identical dark hair bouncing as she walks.. I let my anger boil a bit before starting my morning routine.

After i finally leave my room, I walk down the hall, looking into all four rooms on both sides. Rooms filled with children. Yes, I know what you’re all thinking ‘Whoa! She’s poor and she lives in an orphanage!’ No, I’m not poor or living in an unclean premises. My parents --foster-- are well-endowed in the ability to care for 18 children, of which I and Octavia are the eldest. While deeply in thought about the replaying dream, I trip over a little toy car.  I curse the day I bought them toys on Christmas.

As I lay on the floor, dazed, an image of a boy, about my age, flashes through my mind. Immediately, my mind memorizes & saves his stellar features: his sharp cheekbones, his creamy butterscotch skin. The most memorable part…. His sparkling green eyes. “Let’s GO!”, Via squawks. I got up and rushed downstairs, grabbed my PB&J sandwich and sprinted out the door in one breath.

On the way to the bus stop, My entire world stops. My heart slows, Time slows, and somehow a breeze picks up. I can almost feel someone’s piercing gaze in my direction. I slowly turn around and gasp when i see the perpetrator. it’s him… The boy.  As we stare at one another, something mystical filled the air. I try so hard to turn away, but those eyes--olive with a hint of hazel--drew me in. Without my intent, my feet started moving towards him and him to me. ‘I just wanna be close to him’, i think to myself.

Before we even get into talking space, Via yanks my arm and mind back to reality.

“Ivy! We’re gonna be late. Let’s Go!”, she said. That’s when I completely exploded from this morning and what she just interrupted.

I forcefully remove my hand from her grip and reply, “I don’t know what has gotten into you, that you think i’ll let you push me around? This may be the start of highschool for you but let me tell you something. This will not be the start of a spoiled brat.”, I reply.

I jog up the steps of the bus, with Via quietly trailing behind. And at that moment i know i’ve embarrassed her. So, i smirk with a hint of mischief playing on my lips.
