The rest of the week passed in a blur. I was busy with my guitar and piano lessons and volleyball practice. I had English on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays… nothing happened in them, though. I occasionally got some detentions but they were all at lunch so my parents had no idea. I was only grounded until Monday, leaving my weekend boring and uneventful.

“Lily! I’m going shopping,” my Mom shouted from downstairs. “Do you want to come?”

“No!” I shouted back, putting my earphones back in.

“Lily, go with your Mother.” Dad ordered.

“Aw please!” I took my earphones out and went downstairs.

Dad was reading a newspaper in the living room and Mom was pulling on her shoes.

“I said go.” He told me sternly. “You’re already grounded so do as I say.”

I groaned loudly. I huffed as I pulled my shoes and a jacket on.

“Do you want another week?” Dad sighed, putting his paper down.

I shook my head silently.

“Then stop complaining.”

I followed Mom to the car and we went to a local mall. Once we started to shop, it wasn’t so bad. I bought a couple of accessories and shoes. We went to the food court and then when he saw me.

Mr Hudson was standing a few feet away from us and he recognized me instantly, smirking at me.

“Do you know him?” Mom asked me, frowning at him.

“Uh, yeah,” I answered, scowling back at him. “He’s my English teacher.”

“The one you got detention with?” she asked. “He’s quite young…”

“Yeah, him. He graduated early or something…”

“Oh… Well let’s go say hello!” Mom exclaimed suddenly.

I tried to stop her but she wouldn’t. She was determined to go and meet the guy.

“Hello.” Mom greeted him.

He put on a soft smile. “I’m Mr Hudson, Lily’s English teacher. I believe we talked over the phone?”

“Oh, yes, that was me.” Mom told him.

“Well, it’s very nice to meet you. Hello, Lily.” He smirked at me.

I scowled. Jerk. “Hi.”

“Well it was nice meeting you too but we’d better go, Lily gets cranky when she’s angry.” Mom told him, making me blush.

“Mom!” I groaned.

“What? It’s true.” She retorted.

Mr Hudson just stood there and laughed. I scowled even more.

“Mom, let’s go!” I shouted.

Mom rolled her eyes. “Well, see you later, Mr Hudson.”

“A pleasure to meet you, Mrs Worthington.” He smiled. “Bye Lils.”

Mom froze beside me. I bit my cheeks, trying not to cry. The memories washed through me painfully. I could tell Mom could feel it too.

“I’m sorry, is something, wrong?” he asked.

Stupid, idiotic jerk!

“No, nothing, bye.”  I said recovering before Mom.

He frowned and watched as I carted Mom away.
