“Did you hear?” my friend Kelsey said as we walked into school together on this ugly rainy morning which is also mine and hers first day of junior year.

“Hear what?”

“Derek and Blonde bozo broke up!” she squealed into my ear. I covered up ears from her high pitch tone.

“Who cares?” I said and shrugged my shoulders.

“Who cares? Me, I do. Derek is just so perfect in so many ways. I mean just look at him.” She said leaning against our lockers in the upperclassmen hall way.  She was intensely staring at him. I turned my head over my shoulder to see what group she was looking at.

I turned my head to see a group of boys and some girls who spend way too much money on make-up, and it shows on their faces.

Into that group consisted of my brother and Derek, some of the other football guys.

I sighed. I know for a fact that Kelsey has no chance. I know that sounds really rude but it’s true. Boys like those belong with girls like that. And me and Kelsey are just average.

It’s like their group are the ones who live in the castle and go to fabulous parties, their the center of attention and we are just kind of there, we are the people that give them the attention.

The bell rang indicating that first hour would begin in 2 minuets.

“Come on Kels.” I said shutting my locker and pulling her away from the locker commons.

Everyone was now scurrying to class causing some hall way traffic.

Once we reached our first hour we took our seats in the middle of the class room, the teacher instantly started talking about the rules of the class room, rules that we hear every single year. I started to lean my face in my palm resting my elbow on the table top.

Here’s what I got out of this extremely boring hour.

“Hi, my name is Blah, Blah Blah and this is chemistry. We have rules that you hear every single year but I’m going to repeat them because your stupid little teenagers, blah, Blah, blah.”

Soon I started dozing off to the annoying voice.

“Ms. Williams.” Said the annoying voice making my head shoot up from my palm. I was sure my right cheek has a huge red circle on it now.

“Yes.” I said quickly.

“Is you’re brother Calvin?” she said walking to my table where me and Kelsey sat.

“Umm, yes.” I said nervously.

She looked me up and down and raised her right eyebrow.

She pursed her lips. “I can tell.” She said and walked back to the front of the class.

This made the class erupt in laughter and giggles.

I looked around and rolled my eyes.

“Maybe you should be more focused on getting sleep in your own bed than on my class room table.”

I wouldn’t be so sleepy if you weren’t so boring, I said to myself.

“Yes ma’am.”

“Good.”

The bell rang meaning it was the end of the hour. I quickly stacked my book and notebook in a pile and picked it up, snuggling it between my chest and arm.

Me and Kelsey walked out of class, she was still laughing about my interaction with Mrs. Kingsley.

“Why didn’t you wake me?” I asked her
