Chapter 6

It had been a week since my sister made her appearance as a ghost and hasn’t shown up since. I was beginning to question my sanity, maybe it was all in my head. I put my head under the warm water of the bath, I usually hate baths because your bathing in your own filth, but James insisted it would relax me. I think he was also questioning my sanity, thinking I made it up or imagined it. He was right though, the water had a calming effect. I felt like staying in the warmth of the water for the rest of my afterlife. I opened my eyes, but all I could see was red. All my calm evaporated and was replaced with panic. I instantly tried to sit up but something held me under. I grabbed the sides of bath trying harder to get out of the water. It wasn’t long before I gave up and breathed in a lungful of water. The last thing I heard was laughter than everything went black.

The first thing I did when I woke was gasp for air and thrash against the sheets of the bed I was in. When I was satisfied I wasn’t about to be murdered again I opened my eyes only to be greeted with darkness. I blinked a couple of times to adjust my eyes but could only see the outline of furniture. I attempted to sit up but my body ached all over and I fell back on the mattress. I have died twice and neither have been pleasant to wake up from. After a couple more failed attempts to sit I gave up and just laid there staring at nothing. I sensed movement over on the far side of the room and quietly hoped my fingers it wasn’t Sarah. When the figure stepped closer to the bed, I finally realized who it was an cursed under my breath. Why does whoever’s up there hate me so much.

I could practically feel Sam smile when he heard me swear. He slowly made his way towards the bed as if he was stalking his prey, I shivered when he finally made it. The lights suddenly flared to life, blinding me temporarily. When my vision had adjusted to the bright light I recognized I was in Sam’s room. When I looked back up at Sam I saw he had his usually cocky grin on. “This is the second time you’ve been in my bed” he stated. I stared at him, then glared. How dare he make dirty comments when I just died. He eyes went down to my chest, it was then I remembered I was still naked. I flushed and pulled the sheet back up. He was terrible. His grin widened as his eyes drifted back to my face. I went redder when I thought about how I must have gotten here. This only seemed to amuse him more. “I must say, I was quite worried when I saw your dead body in the water” He told me as he sat down next to me. Way closer than he had to be. “But then I remembered you can’t die” He continued to get closer to me. “Unless James kills you”

“And your telling me this because...” I trailed off waiting for him to fill in the rest but he just continued to stare at me with his demonic eyes. I started to shift uncomfortably the more he continued staring. “Uh, so...can I like, borrow a shirt or something?” I asked looking down at my hands. He sighed then started to strip of his shirt. I stared at him speechless at his action. This boy was not right in the head. He threw me the shirt which I quickly changed into it under the covers. It looked more like a dress then a shirt, almost reaching my knee. With my ninja skills I rolled out of the bed, slipped and smacked my head against the wall before hitting the floor. I winced as I tried to kneel up but a wave of dizziness hit me making me fall again.

“Woah, are you okay?” I heard Sam ask kneeling down to help me back up. As soon as I was back on my feet I opened a portal back to James place. Pushing from Sam I fell through it landing on the bed. It shut before Sam could jump through and crush me. James came in straight after the portal shut and looked at me with relief.

“Where the hell where you?” he hissed at me making me flinch. Then in three strides I was in his arms and he was hugging me. I hugged him back crying quietly into his shirt which made him hold me tighter. We sat there for minutes maybe hours, holding each other and for the first time that week I actually felt a bit of happiness. But like always it gets taken away a second later, in this case by some lolita-demon-princess.

“James?” Elizabeths whiney voice came from the lounge room. We sprung apart and James landing on the floor pulling the blanket with him causing me to fall of the bed on to his lap. Before we had a chance to get out of our compromising position she entered the room dressed in a frill dress. “James?!” she shrieked when she saw us. My ears rang from how high pitched her screech was and judging by James expression so were his. “What are you doing?!” she continued to shriek.

“Nothing” he quickly said getting up, helping me up with him. She opened her mouth to screech again.

“It wasn’t what it looked like” I cut in to stop her screeches. She stared daggers at me.

“Shut up bitch!” she continued her torture to my ears. “You where obviously forcing yourself on him!” I blinked at her. How the hell could James put up with her?!

From the corner of my eye I saw the lamp on the side table start to shake. I opened my mouth to say something but the lamp flew of the table and smashed princess-bitch-face-she-devil in the face knocking her out cold. There was an awkward silence before I stared laughing. Not long after I looked at James and saw he was laughing too. He met my gaze and we started laughing harder.

Apparently he doesn’t like her either. So why the hell is he marrying her?
