The eager Monster absolutely refused to set her down-no matter how much she squirmed in his hold-until he personally delivered her to the master en-suite.. and it was only when he moved to fill the tub with hot water and various soaps that he relinquished his hold on her in favor of having her seated on the marble counter next to the sink.
"What would Mate like for dinner?" it was a casual question that was asked as he dug around the toiletry cabinet and pulled out various bottles of bubble bath and bath salts, his large hands easily twisting off the caps and bringing the containers to his nose for a quick sniff of approval.
Had he really been saving all those luxury items for when he found his mate?
The green tinge of jealousy began to weave its way from the puckered flesh of her neck, the mongrel's mark forcing the uncomfortable feeling to slowly ebb its way through her veins.
She narrowed her eyes at his back while he was bent over the bathtub and gave herself a quick pinch just above her knee in an attempt to quell the unwanted feeling.
The mutt could have all the females he wanted for all she cared, because she had every intention of slipping from his claws.. even if it mean't cutting the flesh from her neck to remove his poisonous stain.
"I'm not picky." short and sweet was her response.
Ever since the takeover, there had been a limit to the food variety she could obtain to feed bother her and Corrie, and thus any pickiness when it came to edible items went out the window.
Her eyes widened as realization hit her hard.
"Coraline." her sister's name was but a breathless whisper as her knuckles turned white from the fierce grip she had on the counter's edge.
To hell with her current issues!
How could she not have realized this until now?!
Ryder's perception of her emotions was scarily accurate.. because the moment her heart-rate picked up in panic, he was on her in an instant. "Mate? What's wrong?"
"No.. no no no no.." she muttered under her breath as she placed her hands against his chest in an attempt to push him away; but the Monster was relentless with his touches in an attempt to soothe her.
"Riona? Sweetheart, what's wrong?!" the mutt's tone sounded almost pleading as he held her close, much to her growing panic and vexation.
Oh, she didn't even want to know how he knew her name.
"My sister! Damn it! I need to get home to my sister!" her struggles to get out of his 'comforting' grasp increased with renewed vigor to the point where she managed to slip off the edge of the counter to stand on her own two feet.
Now she was literally stuck between a rock and a hard place, because the bastard damn sure had no intention of letting her out of his steely hold.
"Darling, it's alright! You're sister has already been moved to the boarding school in Sector One!" if the mutt thought that would ease her mind, he was dead wrong.
School? Her ass!
That fucking boarding school was nothing but some fancy place to prepare select human females to become proper submissive mates to their own personal mongrel tyrant!
And on 'graduation day' the females would be paraded around to advertise themselves to find their mate!
Some humans thought such a thing to be a blessing, but Riona had no desire for that bullshit.. and she knew damn well Corrie shared her insights when it came to the Lycans and their.. school.
Her gaze flared to life with an intense fire as she locked gazes with him, a flash of her own teeth-though less intimidating than it would have been had she been a wolf-as she sneered at him. "Oh! So you throw my baby sister away to some boarding school that prepares her to be some obedient broodmare?!"
She shoved him harder the moment she saw his lips part to respond. "NO! You listen here, goddamn it! Coraline is MY responsibility!" her chest puffed out as she unconsciously took on a more dominant stance.
Ryder's eyes began to swirl to obsidian with the surfacing of his inner beast, his gaze locked onto her assertive posturing with a thoughtful look. "Mate.. docile.. when have pup." the butchered sentence structure marked the arrival of the wolf taking the front seat.
Seriously?
Riona never could understand why these Monsters had so little control over their beasts.
"Damn it, Ryder! Would you please listen to me?! I am Coraline's provider! I have to take care of her!"
Apparently, her words fell on deaf ears as the beast driven male shoved her painfully back against the counter's edge and situated himself between her jean covered legs, obviously unmindful to the bruising that was sure to occur.
There was a firmness pressed against her thigh with the Monster shifting between her legs, and coupled with the beast's butchered words.. her defiant nature went spiraling downwards into gut curling dread.
"Mate.. need pup.. then.. Mate be submissive."
She could physically feel all the color drain from her face with each word the psychotic creature uttered.. and with each passing moment, Ryder's nails began to elongate and sharpen into claws while his teeth descended into points.
"Mate.. will love us.."
Those words had her fighting anew, heedless to the claws that dug into her thighs and drew blood as he hoisted her from the counter and hauled her out into the bedroom.. where she was promptly pinned to the bed.
"Mate.. will have our pups.."
Riona started to thrash and claw at him with her dull nails, catching him across the cheek as she tried to escape from beneath him. "NO!"
"Mate.. will never leave us.."
By now she had bloodied marks from where his sharp nails had punctured her flesh and where her clothes had been shredded. "Please! NO!"
Ugly tears began to drip down her cheeks as she stared frightfully into the depths of the abyss of the beast's eyes, her heart contracting in terror of what was about to happen.
She had heard the horror stories of human mates..
Now she was about to start a story of her own.
