Christmas had come and passed: I found myself in possession of a huge heap of new clothes, a video camera and new books; and now of course, I was back to school. Exam dates had been given out to us, and;
16th January-English
Fuck.
Me and Hazel glanced at each other from across the room. I was deadly serious, but she laughed.
"Tammy, there'll be plenty of time for re-sits. We can do the exam again. It's not every day we get to go into London!"
I guess not.
But it still bothered me just a bit; I'd have to work extra hard to make up for not doing it on the date. Also, surely it would look suspicious that me and my best friend both weren't in school on the same day?
I decided I didn't care. I'd been looking forward to the 16th since before Christmas, and besides, they shouldn't give out the dates so last minute.
Anyway, the day came, and I was up at 5 straightening my hair and applying make up. I drew runes onto my arms like the ones you'd find on a Shadowhunter, and I wore my low black converse, a light blue skater skirt and my Harry Potter shirt. By half 6 I was out of the house, hoping to God that I hadn't woke my mother. I couldn't let her see me wearing this! She still didn't know that I was missing school. I packed a bag with all my money, my phone and some food for me and Haze to eat on the train. When I arrived at Hazel's, her mum, Abigail, answered the door.
"Hey Tamara! Hazel's just finishing off, you can go up to her if you like,"
I raced up the stairs to Hazel's room, where she sat on her bed, her arms covered in runes just like my own. We know each other so well.
"TAMMYYYYY!" She yelled and came to hug me, burning my arm with the curler in her hand at the same time.
"OW, shit, Haze!"
"Sorry!"
A line of red began to show on my skin.
"Great, I am definitely not up to scratch for Jamie now!" I said sarcastically, referring to Jamie Campbell Bower.
"Haha my dear, it's okay, it's me he wants anyway," she said joking back, knowing the chance of him being there was a million to one.
"Hazel! Tamara! Are you ready? Your train is in ten minutes!!" Abigail shouted up to us. The Johnson family were known for being early risers, but Hazel somehow still always ended up being on the last minute.
She grabbed her bag, swung it around her shoulder, grabbed my arm and pulled me down the stairs and out the door.
"Have fun you two!" I heard Abigail shout to us as Hazel shut the door.
The walk to the station normally takes ten minutes itself, but Hazel was pulling me and forcing me to run. As we arrived, the train was already pulled up and waiting for us. We jumped on just before the doors closed, and we just made it. I handed our tickets to the ticket guy, and we sat down on a four seater with a table. The journey itself took like twenty minutes, and when we arrived at our stop we took some time finding the hall where the convention was being held. But when we saw it, we knew we were there. Hundreds and hundreds of fans queued up outside, some Dr Who fans, Marvel fans, Harry Potter ones, The Hunger Games, Supernatural, Sherlock, Twilight...and of course The Mortal Instruments fans, with their arms covered in runes like our own. We queued up in the line next to a few other TMI fans, who gave us an acknowledgement. We were in the queue for around five minutes, just talking, when a large...well I didn't know WHAT it was. All I knew was that something was hurtling into my legs, almost knocking me over. Hazel nearly let out a shriek, but a hand rose up and covered her mouth to stop her.
