Luke
If you don't know
We decided to tell my parents a couple of days after we decided it's a possibility we might keep it.
"Mom, where's dad, Luke and I have something to tell you both" I say as we walk down the stairs. "He's in the backyard getting the grill ready" I nod.
"Let's go out there then it's kind off important" I say nervous and Luke rubs my back "Alright then let's go" she says with a smile. The three of us make our way to my backyard and I can see my dad with the grill and the smoke.
"Honey come over our daughter wants to discuss something"
Here we go it's now or never.
"I'm coming let me put the ribs in"
After that he sat down with us and I'm still holding on to Luke's hand I have a bad feeling if I let go something terrible will happen.
"Well...first I'm sorry" I say quickly.
"Sorry for what?" My dad asks.
"Mom, dad, I'm pregnant." I don't make eye contact not wanting to see their reactions. Luke rubs my hand reassuring me it's okay to look.
"Oh baby come here" my mom makes her way over to me with open arms and I cry on her shoulder "I'm sorry mom I don't know what to do with it a baby isn't for us but I can't give it away" I say in between sobs.
Jesus what a moment...
"Look come here sit" she says and kneels beside me holding Luke's hands in mine. "You guys made this together and it's your mistake but some mistakes are good not bad" she looks at me "It's like a cake" she smiles.
"I'll be there for you two as long as you young man are there for her" she gives a look at Luke. "I wouldn't dream of leaving" he smiles.
God everything is so cliché but I'm glad everything will be just fine.
"Come on son, let's teach you how to cook a real man's dinner" my dad says standing up and walking to the grill. Luke gladly follows him after leaving a kiss on the top of my head.
