Chapter 3: Midnight Thoughts

Serina was in the Training Room, playing with her Fire Magic.

"S-Serina-san?" Hanayo asked. Serina purrposely shooted a fire ball towards Hanayo. Hanayo gasped.

'Come on, fight it away.' Serina thought. Hanayo closed her eyes tightly, scared. Serina sighed and made the fire disappear.

"What do you want?" Serina  asked. Hanayo opened her eyes and looked away.

"Do you think i made the right decision to join this Extermination mission?" Hanayo asked. Serina raised an eyebrow.

"Well, why would you think it's wrong?" Serina asked.

"I don't even know. Ummm... I wanna ask you something..." Hanayo said. Serina just looked at her.

"W-What's the reason you joined this Extermination? What's the reason your joined the army?" Hanayo asked. Serina sighed and kept playing with her magic.

"Well, i don't know how to answer that but... Is there a reason for you to eat when you're hungry?" Serina asked. Hanayo looked at her and blushed.

"S-So... There's no reason why you joined the army?" Hanayo asked.

"I just got the perfect answer just now. Well, i joined the army because... I felt like it. I think i just want to do it." Serina said and made a small ice sculpture of Rin before giving it to Hanayo.

"You want to protect her, right?" Serina asked. Hanayo blushed and nodded.

"E-Even though she has a big weapon... She's still missing in strength and bravery." Hanayo said.

"Hanayo-sama, let me just ask you this." Serina said. Hanayo looked at her with curious eyes.

"Are you willing to take away your humanity just to protect Rin?" Serina asked.

"W-What do you mean?" Hanayo asked.

"Imagine this, if a vampire is holding up Rin and his teammate is looking at you and suddenly asked 'Are you willing to take away your humanity to get stronger and protect your precious ones?', what will you answer?" Serina asked. Hanayo looked at her hands and sighed.

"I don't even know if i'm strong or weak. I just know that i... I can't fight." Hanayo said. Serina stared at her and furrowed her eyebrows.

"Hanayo-sama, you belong to a famous noble family here in Tokyo and you say you can't fight? Your family is a strong household, specially trained to step up to those creatures and bring back humanity." Serina said. Hanayo clenched her fists.

"Just because i belong to a strong family doesn't mean we all can fight! I'm not specially trained! I was always treated like a princess and i hated it... My dad didn't want me to get hurt. I... I ran Way from home. I was sick of being treated special..." Hanayo said. That outburst was heard by everyone. Serina just stayed silent until Rin and Maki came running to the Training Room.

"Hanayo, was that yelling all about??" Maki asked.

"You! Did you do something to Kayo-chin?!" Rin yelled, pointing Serina her scythe.

"R-Rin-chan--" Hanayo was cut off when Rin proceed to attack Serina. Serina frozed the scythe and sighed.

"I didn't do anything." Serina said and walked away unfreezing the scythe. Rin gritted her teeth and pouted.

"I'll get you!" Rin yelled.

[ At Eli, Nozomi, and Nico ]

"Is someone fighting with Hanayo-sama?" Nico asked.
