Day Out

The day out with Quil, Jake and Embry consisted of Cliff jumping, something they said they did for fun around here. We were at the very top cliff this was something I never thought of doing in my entire life, motorcycles where one thing but cliff jumping was something entirely different for me like I’ve said before I wasn’t the best swimmer so this was more dangerous for me then driving a motorcycle.

“Come on Alice you’re not scared are you?” Quil teased

“You Guys are nuts” I said looking over the edge of the cliff

“It’s so much fun Alice” Embry said

“What happened to the fearless Alice I saw the other day?” Jake asked me now

“Motorcycles are one thing Jake but this… this is something on a whole different level… I’m not great at swimming”

“You looked fine the other day” Quil responded.

“I can swim, I’m just not a strong swimmer, and I don’t think I would be able to fight the tide”

“I’ll wait for you” Jake said

“What” I asked unsure of what he meant the electrical charge between us was growing but I was the only one to notice it. It wasn’t one that would make me feel nervous around him, like an attraction charge but it was still there and I didn’t know why.

“In the water, I’ll wait till you’ve jumped and if you struggle I will pull you out”

“Come on Alice, I promise after you first go you will want to do it again” Embry pleaded

Peer pressure I thought as I said “ok let’s do it” I watched as Embry and Quil jumped and how amazing it actually did look, I watched them come up and start swimming towards the shore.

“You don’t have to do this” Jacob said as he got ready to jump.

“No I want to. Just promise you will wait”

“I promise” he said as he jumped of the cliff and hit the water a moment later.

I watched as he broke the surface of the water and shouted up “Come on Alice its great” I got ready to jump and froze on the side. “Come on Alice you can do this” I said to myself and then jumped of the side of the Cliff, the drop to the water seemed to take longer then it looked I felt the adrenaline rush through my veins during my fall and then I hit the water. I fought against the current as hard as I could and I thought I was going to die as my lungs started burning for Air, than I broke through the surface of the water with force.

“Well?” Jake asked who had his arm around my waist now to hold me above the water.

“That was amazing; I can’t believe I was so scared”

“Told you” Jake smirked and started pulling me to the shore. By the time we had got back up more members of the tribe had gathered to join in. I spotted Seth first and I felt the urge to stop him “Seth, your mother will kill you” I shouted before he moved forward to jump

“Oh hay Alice, and please first timea I’ve had more experience jumping off this cliff then you have changed your underwear”

“Oh nice one kid did your momma teach you that?”

“I’m not a kid”

“Sure and pouting proves it too” I smirked

“If you weren’t a girl I would kick your ass”

“Really, Bring it on boy” I said smiling and putting up my fists and doing a stupid little hop I saw on boxing once.

Seth mimicked my stance and when put him in a head lock and gave him a noogie…. Seth looked pissed when I let him go, vibrations running through his body. The smile I had on my face left in an instant, Jake and a few other of the guy’s that hadn’t jumped yet moved towards him “Seth Calm down. She was just playing” Jake said pushing me further back as he stood between me and Seth. I wasn’t sure what was going on and why Jake would feel the need to protect me and when he was just a kid. The vibrations in his body slowed and the scowl on his face disappeared, Jake relaxed in front of me and so did all the others. This was a weird reaction when someone got angry normally people would just say calm down but they acted differently, protectively.
