Barry Allen

You were new to the CCPD, going to work in the forensic unit. A friend of yours, Joe West, had recommended you to start the job as soon as you were out of college. You were always a fan of crime shows on tv, CSI, Criminal Minds, you name it. They were the reason you got into this job. And also, secretly, you felt that you'd be a hero if you joined the force. Not necessarily a superhero like the Streak, no but all the same some sort of hero.

"(Y/N)! There you are!" You heard a familiar voice call, and turned around to see the merry face of Joe West. He always had that smile on his face, unless it was that serious interrogation face. She was scared of that one.

"Joe!" you ran over to him to give him a hug, which he engulfed you in. Joe was like a second father to you. Well more so like a father, since you had lost the other one in a freak accident.

"How was the trip? You ready to start?" he asked, pulling away from the hug and placing his hands on his hips.

"It was long, but I am really serious about starting this as soon as possible," you grinned, your hand tightening on the bag you were carrying, "its kind of like a dream come true."

"Great, since your help is extra excited to finally meet you," he replied. Ooh, Joe had that twinkle in his eye. The one that meant he was up to something.

"Help?" you asked. Joe never said that you were going to get help.

"Yeah, come on, let's go meet him."

--

Joe had led you upstairs, further down the corridor. Plenty of officers were running up and down, some with files, walking around with laptops, on their phone. You loved it! The energy was just surging through the place, and you couldn't wait to deal with it everyday.

"Now just a head's up, Barry can be a bit weird around girls," Joe said, turning around to face you as he led you towards a wide open door, "especially pretty ones."

"Umm, okay?" you replied, laughing slightly at the warning. A guy couldn't get that bad could he?

"Barry! Your, umm, student is here!" Joe called out, turning into the wide open door to reveal a lab, or an office. It somehow had the mixture of both. You looked around at all the racks of vials and what nots, the large billboard, the open windows revealing the streets of Central City below. It was kind of nice. That is, until you locked eyes with the boy, no, man that was sitting at a desk.

He was dressed formerly, in a collared shirt tucked into a sweater, skinny jeans and converse. You looked down at your own attire and blushed at how similar you two were dressed. When you looked back up, he was standing now, attempting to formally lean against his desk. Sadly he slipped and a whole stack of papers spilt to the floor.

"Oh gosh," you could hear him murmur, in which you instantly came over to help him.

"Told ya," you heard Joe whisper, landing a small smile on your face.

"Here, let me help," you offered, getting down on your knees to help him collect the papers.

"I'm so sorry, I was hoping that I was going to be a bit better than this," he apologized, and you looked up to lock eyes with him once more.

He had the prettiest eyes. They were some shade of blue, so much prettier than the usual. He was also strikingly handsome, the kind of handsome you would see with that guy who was strikingly intelligent, who was the sweetest of people. You could tell that he already was.

"Its cool, you should see me when I meet new people," you replied, "total whack."

He smiled at you when you said this, and your heart skipped a beat. Woah, you thought, he really does have a nice smile.

"You're doing pretty good though," he commented. You could only smile in response.

"Barry Allen, meet (Y/N)," Joe called out as you handed Barry all the papers. "(Y/N), meet CCPD's best CSI, Barry Allen."

"Its a pleasure," you held your hand out. Barry placed all the papers on the desk once more before taking your hand in his. He shook it kindly, not like a firm one, but a friendly one. And you also realized that he was pretty tall.

"Its so great to finally meet you, Joe wouldn't stop talking about you," he replied, sending a look to Joe.

"All good things?"

"Of course," Barry smiled. You two realized you were still shaking hands. Both of you pulled away awkwardly, a crimson blush rising to both your cheeks.

"Well, show her how things get done Bare, I'll be right downstairs if you need me (Y/N)," Joe said, waving goodbye as he headed out.

You waved back and turned to face Barry again, trying hard not to blush.

"So, ready to start the first day of the rest of your life," he asked with a chuckle, spreading his arms out to gesture to his lab.

"Definitely," you replied.

You could tell that this was undeniably the perfect job for you.
