I got down the narrow hallway and turned the corner to find Ernesto sleeping on the couch. He must have been there ever since yesterday. As in the day he 'almost' jumped off a building. We were going to have to talk about that but, not right now.
Right now, I was going to spend as much time as possible with Ern. When the nurse tapped his shoulder we jolted up. He stared at me with dazed eyes and smiled. He got up and wrapped his arms around me embracing every second of the hug. He smelled like smoke and his eyes were watery.
His clothes were wrinkly and his hair was going in all directions. I flattened it with my hands and tucked some pieces of hair behind his ears.
"Sometimes I think that you wouldn't last a day without me." I say with a small smile on my face. "I could barely last a minute with you " Ernesto whispered before pulling me into a kiss. I never wanted it to end.
But we were rudely inrupted by a nurse. She looked strangely out of place. She was a wiry little thing who around thirteen. "U-um excuse me sir , but um I-I'm here to tell you that your free to go" she said playing with her fingers. I quickly gave her a thank you & Ernesto and I walked out of the hospital doors.
My legs were still weak but at least I was away from that place. We got in the car. I wanted to drive but apparently Ernesto thought I still couldn't. Surprisingly, no one else had came to pick me up. I was about to ask Ernesto but I didn't think this was the right time. I began to doze off on the way hoping that Ernesto wouldn't notice.
"Get some rest Sadiq" he mumbled. I leaned against the side of the car door and slept for the rest of the trip.
