Chapter 1- Café Latte w/Extra Foam
Santo Donati stands next to the coffee shop counter texting his sister Serena to cancel their lunch date for later today while waiting impatiently for his coffee. He's happy to find any excuse to delay the inevitable conversation he knows she wants to have. Now if he can get to his meeting on time his day might go a little smoother but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
The two barista’s working behind the counter in the coffee shop across the street from his new work location are extremely slow. Thankfully there aren’t many customers at the moment and the next customer in line just gave her order.
Santo focuses on checking his cell phone messages when a female customer's distinct perfumed scent invades his senses causing him to stop reading to give her a cursory look. She rudely stands in front of him almost backing up on him after ordering her drink but he doesn’t mind the orange citrus scent of her has already captured his attention. Her back is delightfully distracting in her form fitting grey button down pencil skirt, sheer white blouse and sexy black peep toe pumps.
It's been a while since he's paid this type of attention to such an attractive woman. His former profession didn't allow much time for lasting relationships. He wouldn't have risked putting anyone he cared about in danger. He's usually only interested in what's between a woman's legs for a night then he moves on. The last woman he tried to have a relationship with stomped all over his heart she treated him like he was her toy.
It's been almost a year now the break of that relationship is still raw. He has thrown himself into work, traveling all over the world doing what he does best. Making money for himself and other people by cleaning up their messes.
The rude woman seems agitated, when she turns slightly to the left he gets a chance to see her succulent lips, he's attracted to her kissable pout. Her nose is long and slim, her cheeks seem flushed from her hyper behavior. She doesn't bother to look behind her she keeps rumbling around in her large purse. She doesn't pull anything out of it he doesn't know what she's looking for. He is extremely attracted to those deep green eyes of hers that remind him of a pair of emerald earrings he gave his mother on her last birthday.
Intrigued by her agitated state he turns his phone off just as she is about to bump into him. He takes a sidestep to avoid touching her but she ends up brushing against him anyway. It bothers him that she doesn't turn around. She has to know he's there. Is she that rude or just dense. He's about to say something when he hears the ringing in her purse and she starts digging around in it for her phone. She pulls the phone from her expensive designer bag then starts to pace back and forth in front of him distracted by all the unread messages on it.
Chewing on her bottom lip while reading she stops her pacing in front of him. He can see the scowl on her face as she reads. He can't help himself he decides to look over her shoulder reading along with her;
_Stop being so stubborn and call me back, we need to meet to talk about this.
He towers over her shoulder this is the first message he can see. The reason she's preoccupied is becoming clear he finds he likes reading her phone messages better than his own. It's not something he would normally do, but he is curious about her. He takes a quick look around to see if anyone is watching them all the other customers in the shop seem to be going about their business. He turns back to the gorgeous woman in front of him watching over her shoulder to read more of her messages;
