The lock had a key hole. Thank goodness. I was so worried there wouldn't be a lock for me to pick!!
I fumbled in my pocket and pulled out the little paperclip contraption we made. I glanced over at Kris. He nodded, and I pushed our makeshift key though the hole.
My amazing lock picking skills worked!
"What are you doing?"
Yeah... It wasn't Tom.
A big police man was in the room where Tom used to be. I thought about Olivia. I might not be able to make it to the hospital...
"We're looking for Tom. Who you were illegally testing on." Kris said boldly.
The policeman glared at us. "What are you thinking bursting through the doors of a police station?"
"I thought Tom was in danger. He called me yesterday..." I mumbled, not-so-boldly.
"We were testing on him... But he wasn't in danger," he said. "We were trying to figure out how he was created. How the embryo worked."
"But... He's gone!" I said.
"Yes. He's at the hospital for further tests."
I was so confused. He could obviously tell because he explained further. "We wanted to do the tests fast, before they legalized genetic engineering. We don't want it to be legal, and we thought maybe we could use Tom to fight against it. And to get rid of illegal labs."
"You didn't get his permission for this!" I exclaimed. "I'm going to sue you."
The policeman looked ashamed. "But you burst unto a police station. You COULD have a large fine and a night or two in jail."
"Could?" Kris asked.
"I'll let you go. It was a misunderstanding... Just don't sue me?" He said.
"Thank you so much!!!" I cried.
"Leave. Run. Fast." He said, motioning towards the door.
"Thank you!!!!" I said again.
"To the hospital?' Kris asked once we were in the car. "Should we go see what's up with Tom?"
"Yes!!' I said. "Wait, no. Olivia... Take me home, fast."
Kris, just being awesome, didn't even question me. He got me back to my dorm. I thanked him, got in my car, and speeded to my home town hospital.
So Tom wasn't in danger? Everything was still a little foggy. I'd figure out the details later. There are more important things.

"Do you have an appointment?"
"NO, BUT JUST PLEASE LET ME IN, THERE'S SOME PRETTY WEIRD AND ILLEGAL CRAP GOING ON BACK THERE. I NEED TO SAVE MY SISTER'S LIFE."
Everyone stared at me. "Just let me in." I said, much quieter. "Please."
The lady at the desk looked around for support... But she caved. I got her to tell me where Olivia's room was.
I called my mom as I walked there.
"Mom, where are you?"
"Just in the waiting room next to Olivia's operating room. They won't let me in. I couldn't do anything. And I couldn't call... the person you told me to call because I have a worker here with me."
I hung up as I walked into the room where my mom was waiting. She hugged me.
"It's been an hour since they started, so they should be finishing soon." She informed me.
'Fast brain operation,' I thought, but I didn't say anything because of the man dressed in scrubs staring at me from his chair.
We sat in silence for a few minutes. Anxiety hovered in the air. It radiated off of my mom. I kept thinking of the worst case scenario. And this being a hospital room, some family probably got horrible news here... Maybe as recent as yesterday. Of all my years having anxiety... This is the most anxious I've ever felt in my life.
I nearly jumped out of my seat when the door opened.
"It was a clean operation. The most success we've ever had. She's awake now. You can see her." The surgeon said. I wanted to punch him in the face. Yup. Him I'll sue.
The nurse who was sitting in the corner followed us.
"Oh no you don't. Leave." My mom snapped.
Surprisingly, he left.
My mom ran to Olivia's bed. I slowly approached her... And what I saw couldn't be real. That's not my sister. Please tell me this is a dream.
