The next morning I didn't feel any better, actually I felt worse, ten times worse with my scratchy throat and stuffed up nose. I was positive my fever was well above what it was supposed to be and I was also positive that it was due to getting rained on last night.
Ever since I was a child I was always the first to catch a cold and the last to rid of it, at the slightest of change happening to me or the slightest discomfort I would fall ill, much like now. It was a complete curse.
My eyes were watering and I felt scorchingly hot, I was originally going to get up and make breakfast like I had done yesterday, however when I attempted to I literally saw stars so I collapsed helplessly into my bed again.
I sniffled petting Bonnie weakly who was curled up next to me, his head nestled against my shoulder where he would occasionally deliver small licks to my cheek whenever I would groan or whimper with discomfort.
It's true you know; a dog is mans best friend.
Whilst I mentally complained I heard the distinct ringing of my phone breaking the silence in the room making me groan loudly. The sound was muffled so I assumed the phone was buried somewhere in the pits of my bed. So digging around whilst muttering under my breath I pulled it out from underneath me and quickly accepted the call before it dropped too busy to actually read the ID.
"Hello?" I grumbled.
"Hi, sweetheart, it's me Anne." My eyes widened as I quickly scrambled to sit up ignoring the rush of blood to my head which had me wobbling for a minute.
"Oh, Anne! Hi, how are you?" I asked trying to sound upbeat and more alive than I actually felt at this minute, however I think I failed.
"You don't sound too good, sweetheart. . . Oh, what a shame. ." She trailed of sounding disappointed as her tone sounded less enthusiastic towards the end of her sentence. I frowned.
"Ehm, yeah, no it's nothing, just a bit of a sore throat is all. Why, was there something you needed?" I asked scratching behind Bonnie's ears as he barked softly.
"Well, actually, Gemma graduated recently and we wanted to hold a little get together, I was going to ask if you would be willing to come help me set everything up. I don't work as well as I used to." She joked as I processed her words wondering what to do. I felt terrible and could barely stand, however I didn't want Anne to dislike me I mean she was my mother-in-law and I would also feel bad for not helping her out since I was now part of their family really. Maybe if I took some heavy painkillers I could make it? I mean she said small get together right?
"Yeah sure, what time would you like me to come over? I have a bit of a cold but it's nothing major." I promised as I began to unravel myself from the duvet burrito I was currently enveloped in.
"Oh thank you sweetheart! Just after breakfast would be fine, I'll see you then. . . Oh, and tell Harry that I said for him to come with as well Dear, Thanks again." She said sweetly whilst I bid my goodbyes and hung up heaving my aching body up to trail towards the bathroom whilst holding the wall for support. Taking a look in the mirror I cringed at the bags under my eyes, my chapped lips and the god awful red colour my nose was from blowing it. I huffed lazily picking out some clothes and underwear to wear. I guess I'd have to wear something I could continue to wear through the party.
I picked out a simple grey jersey dress and some thigh high socks as I didn't want to expose any more body parts than I was forced to due to my cold. I grabbed a black bra and panties and headed to shower. Sniffling weakly as I went.
