CHAPTER 6
Random StuffRachel Carter
My whole body ached.
What? I had been thrown into a car after all. I wanted a little sympathy.
I limped into the conference room. I had a swollen ankle but other than that there was nothing too major.
"Okay so who the hell was that guy? Why the hell did he attack us? And what the hell happened to him? He like exploded into a cloud" Cameron bitched to Hill and May. I rolled my eyes. He hadn't shut up since we had got back.
"We don't know. Spencer has worked the footage from the security camera in the alley way into the system though. Spencer care to take over?" May asked Spencer. It was a ballsey move to get the new kid to present while Cameron was on one of his rants.
Spencer nodded and took over in front of the monitor. "Okay then listen up. As far as I know and the resources we have at SHIELD this man does not exist - at least according to any known government. But given his abilities I'm guessing that he may be alien of some sorts" Spencer informed us. I rolled my eyes and kicked back a little.
"So a round about way of saying we have nothing?" Cameron shrieked at the room, his arms flying up in the air.
"Well I have yet to sift through everything that was brought back from the alley but I'm sure that will yield some results" Simmonds explained with a warm smile.
"Can I just ask - was anything found on the footage about who left the body there? And maybe a why they left that message?" I asked quickly. They might not necessarily be the same person since that wasn't the original crime scene.
"We're trying to clear up the images now because they were too dark originally" Hill explained.
A snort left me without being able to stop it. A security camera that didn't work in the dark when most crimes are statistically committed.
"It bugs me though. They want to swap me for Tony. So it means that Tony is being held by a maybe-alien. Maybe we should just trade me for Tony. He would have a better chance of figuring all of this out anyways" Steve offered. His voice sort of came out of the blue. He had been pretty quiet up to now.
I felt like slapping him. Hard. We had all almost just died trying to protect him and now he just wanted to himself over.
"Okay, I know it's like in your blood to be a martyr and all but handing yourself over to an enemy without even knowing if Mr Stark is alive or even being held by them for that matter is plain stupid. And we wouldn't let you do it anyways" I bitched very suddenly. Something about that statement had just annoyed me. And I was feeling one of those drop the mic moments.
Everyone looked over at me with different gradients of shock on their faces. Well everyone was thinking it - I was just the one to say it.
"Urm...well I would of said it a little less passionately but we can't hand you over to a terrorist group Steve" Hill explained to Steve.
Steve was still looking at me with total shock though. His face shocked and his jaw slack with his eyes widened.
"Steve?" Hill called again.
Steve looked up at hill with a blank expression. "Yeah. Urm...what was the question again?" he questioned with low grumble.
"It wasn't a question. I was saying that I wasn't going to send you off to HYDRA - even if there was a slight possibility we could get Tony back" Hill smirked at him. I had honestly never seen her smile.
