CHAPTER 4
RehabSteve Rogers
All my stuff had been sent over from my apartment in New York which was very fast. Not that I knew where we were. We could have been in New York for all I know.
It felt a little better having all my stuff with me. I could finally change out of my hospital gown and into a white tee shirt and some jogging pants. My Doctor told me just to try and loosen up as much as possible. That would be easy if I could actually move my legs. So for the moment I was on bed rest.
I wanted to get up and get out there and start looking for Tony, and hunting down the last of HYDRA. I had only been trying for almost a hundred years to get rid of HYDRA after all. And now they had information that I wanted.
A quick knock came at the door and I pushed myself up so I wasn't slouching and being disrespectful to any guests.
"Captain Rogers?" a feminine quiet voice called through the door. I could hear the New York in her accent very clearly. That made me trust whoever it was that much more.
"Come in" I called out to my unknown guest.
The door opened slowly...
...
...and in walked the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.
Her pale skin with the rosy pink cheeks made her looked flush and in a frozen state of blushing. Her brown and blonde hair was tied back in a ponytail but highlighted her face perfectly. She was wearing baggy clothing but you could still see her small frame. And she was looking down at a clipboard when she walked in.
I found myself scanning her over and over - to the point where I had to shake myself mentally to bring myself back down to reality.
"H-hi, my name's-" I began to stutter nervously.
She looked up at me. "Captain Steve Rogers. Remember I called your name outside the door just now?" she smiled at me. She pointed to the door frame over her shoulder with her thumb - a very New York thing to do.
I felt slightly dumb.
"I think everyone knows who Captain America is anyways" she laughed at me.
"And your name is?" I asked pretty quickly. It would have been rude not to. Not that I had to ask though - she looked exactly like her Grandmother did at her age.
"Agent Rachel Carter" Rachel replied. She started ticking stuff off on her clip board. "So I guess that you've been told about everything that has gone on. I'm here to lay out your rehab schedule. At the moment you have very limited motion in your lower limbs but with your accelerated healing we should be able to restore movement in your legs pretty quickly" Rachel informed me. She sounded like a scientist.
"So are you like a scientist or a physical therapist or something?" I questioned her. I found it odd to think that Peggy Carter's Granddaughter would settle for being a scientist.
"No. I'm a tactical planner and sometimes field agent. I had my own brush with an injury of my own that I rehabed and - well I don't want to bore you with details. I figured that maybe we could start with some stretches this afternoon and then be on making small movements tonight" she lead me threw the plan but I couldn't help but just admire her while she was talking.
