The Icy Beta: Chapter Twenty One

“Hailey, feel free to drop by next time.” Kylie said and she smiled widely while waving at us when Brayden and I were leaving.

“Sure!!!” I shouted back and smiled at all of them as they stood at the door step. I turned back to look at the front with a smiling face.

“You look happy.” Brayden said. I looked at him and smiled.

“Yes, I am!!” I hooked Brayden’s left arm and leaned on him slightly. Brayden lifted up his right hand and stroked my head gently.

“I’m glad that you are happy.” Brayden smiled lightly at me.          

“I’m sorry for making you worry.” I said and felt guilty that he had to go through all these. If only he had gotten a normal werewolf mate… Brayden stopped his footsteps and bent forward to give me a peck on my lips.

“Silly girl.” Brayden’s lips twitched upwards and I found myself smiling along with him. We continued to head back to the main house and went to the study room where Jayden was.

“Come in.” Jayden granted us access into the study room after Brayden knocked on the door. When we walked in, Jayden was sitting at his desk. Brayden and I sat at the chairs in front of his desk.

“I’m not going to beat around the bush.” Jayden took out a file and placed in front of us.

“This file contained information regarding about the beast. It is some scientific report about the beast. As you know, werewolves are born. Moon Lady created werewolves such that in each wolf, the blood of the wolf and human respectively are well mixed and show no signs of rejection. And it formed the perfect genes for both wolf and humanity to exist together. Usually werewolves are paired with each other and hence the child born will be a werewolf too.  Just to let you know that every wolf have different shifting time. Wolves with Alpha blood will shift at the age of 15, Beta at the age of 16 and the normal wolves at the age of 17.

However, it is found out that beasts are man-made. To create beast, one of the parent must be a werewolf and the other is a human. Since werewolves are usually pair up with each other, beast is created by a werewolf deliberately mating with a human. The child born will obtain genes from both parents. The child will grow up as a human and the wolf will also grow within. The human and wolf are unable to accept each other and will try to fight for dominance.

Till the age of 21, the wolf side will take over the human body and shift into a beast. It will also dominate the mind. As wolf is an animal with only animal instinct, it will only have animalistic behaviour. It will lose the human side and hence losing humanity. It will go around hunting for preys. Therefore, people named these creatures ‘the beast’.” Jayden ended his speech by looking at me. Brayden was flipping the pages inside the file.

“There is no research on the solutions?” Brayden asked as he looked up from the file.

“My dad is still gathering the information.” Jayden answered. Come to think of it, I never seen his parents in the pack house.

“Isn’t Uncle Charles having holiday with Auntie Stella and Christina?” Brayden asked Jayden.

"Yes. They travelled to Greece few days back. Greece is the origin creation of the myth of beast. My dad had helped to collect information and obtain the research done by the werewolves’ scientist in Greece. He got the documents translated from Greek to English.” Jayden explained. There were a few moments of silence. I looked at Brayden and he seemed to be thinking real hard about something. Brayden took a look at me before turning to Jayden.
