Chapter 5

That night it was unusually hard to sleep. The screech I witnessed kept echoing through my head. Other than that scary memory, there was the whispering and thuds in the walls I kept hearing. None of this happened till my aunt fell asleep. How the hell could she sleep? And why were the things happening to me after she fell asleep? I was hysterically mad and scared of whatever was messing with me.

"You're curiosity is vague little girl." I heard voices around me whispering this.

I could do nothing about it however so I just pulled my covers tighter over my head and hoped for the best to block out the voices. Even though the whispering grew faint under my covers I could still hear thumping noises in what sounded like the hall. It could have been anything, but no! I heard footsteps in the hallway and I instantly freaked. The footsteps were approaching closer to the door... I saw two faint shadows under the crack of the door. The whispering increased ten fold. I didn't know I did until my aunt awoke suddenly, I screamed as I saw the door knob turn.

"What happened?!" My aunt awoke shouting.

I tried to tell her but my lips wouldn't move but I somehow managed to stutter the words, "th-the-the d-d-door."

"The door what?" she replied with a look of fear and concern.

"The noises and the door and the shadow and I don't know whats happening to me," I bursted into tears. It was all so stressful.

I felt a breeze but how? Thats impossible if you're inside and the windows are closed... isn't it? The voices began again, only this time they didn't care about my aunts presence, they knew she was awake and they didn't care.

"YOU'RE COMING CLOSER TO THE TRUTH LITTLE CHILD!" All the mixed voices spoke in harmony and it would've maybe sounded a bit soothing if it wasn't threatening. The voices grew louder, repeating and repeating the same phrase over and over again. The sound of it increased each time the voices said that. I covered my ears and shut my eyes, shaking my head in denial of what was occurring to me at this exact second.

Books from the shelve began to lift up.

"Stop it!!!" I screamed at the terrorizing voices that were almost threatening me.

The books dropped in mid air and the voices stopped antagonizing me. I took a deep breath in and out very heavily. I couldn't believe what just happened. It had be a nightmare, none of this could actually be happening, its all just a bad dream. Pretty soon it would all be over and I would wake up in my bed with my mom and dad across the hall in their own room, fast asleep. My Aunt Tracy ran her hands through my hair, shushing my crying. I fell into a deep sleep, exhausted, my aunt still there calming me.
