We rode in silence all the way to school. Not an uncomfortable silence but a comforting silence. I love just riding in a car watching the world go by. Seeing all the things that God made and relaxing but something would always bust into my head to ruin it! This time it was Sammy yelling about how she had forgotten her homework but Gabe wouldn't go back because we would all miss first period and then her homework wouldn't matter. At that she fell silent realizing that he had a point.
I leaned back and smiled at them. They were always fighting but it would never last they loved each other way too much.
We drove up to the school and got out and Sammy went to her classes and me and Gabe walked to our own.
"So you okay today?"
"Yeah I guess. Could be worse but have been better."
"Did you dream about him again last night?"
"No but that doesn't mean he ain't on my mind."
"I know. I can tell...I saw you crying on the roof last night. Would have came to sit with you but Mom was being crazy."
"Thanks but I needed to be alone last night. Although I'm gonna be out there tonight to watch the eclipse, your welcome to join me if you want. I'm gonna make some more cookies and some milk."
"Cookies!? Oh you know I'm there."
"I knew you would say that! Well I'll have to make double now for your fat self!" I laughed as I pushed him. We walkd into the classroom and sat down in our usual seat. I quickly noticed Michael wasn't at school today but then I saw him walk in with his eyes glued to his phone. He glanced up at me smiled and quickly sat down. He tried so hard to still be nice to me. I understood that but I wished he would just ignore me all together because everytime he smiled at me I could see that it was only the smile he gave everybody else, reminded me that now I was no diffrent to him than anybody else. I felt that deep ache in my heart that I always felt when he was near.
No Myra you are not going to do this. You can't cry. You have quit crying over him altogether.
I blinked away the tears that had started to pool right below my eyes. Gabe looked at me and we talked silently with my eyes for a moment, a "twin power" we had aquired. He asked if I was ok and I told him no but that I would be. Then we turned out attention to Mrs. Glaschki. She drove me crazy with all her annoying talk of English. I Hate English. Gabrael always gived me the answers though. So today it was nothing abnormal just a crazy boring day with crazy boring teachers and just plain crazy friends. I was so tired of class, people, and espically people. Finally it came to the end of the day it was my most hated class the only class I have no friends I used to love the class because it was my only class with only Michael and I but now it was the only class I had no friends in. So I sat there though another day and suddnley a scrawney little girl walked in and came to sit right beside me.
"Hi."
"Hello."
"Why you sitting here all by yourself?"
"Because I have no friends in this class."
"Well what about him over there he seems like a nice guy." She said as she pointed right at Michael.
I smiled sourly and replied, "Thats my ex we just broke up last week."
"Oh I'm sorry I didnt know."
"Hey it's all good I'm alright."
"My name is Denise. Whats your name?"
"Myra."
We talked for a few more minutes then the bell rang and poor Denise didn't know where she was going, so I showed her where the bus lane was and then found out that she was riding carpool so I then had to take her all the way to the other side of campus by then Gabe was calling me asking me where I was and going crazy about how much homework he had for this weekend and then we found her ride and I started to walk to the parking lot. While i was walking I looked down to my book and ran smack into a wall. Too bad that wall hurned in to be a person, and that person into a guy, and the guy into the most popular eligable dude in high school.
"Oh I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to run into you." He babbled.
"Oh it's my fault your ok." then I looked up and see Kaleb and just stare at him.
"No I ran right into you and knocked all you stuff down." Then he picked up all my stuff and handed it to me, and just for a moment I just looked into his eyes and a smile just came across my face. He smiled back and I felt the butteflies appear in my stomach for the first time since Michael and I broke up. I hated it! Especially since it was a reallly popular guy.
"I have never met you before Im Kaleb."
"Well you are a really rich popular guy and I'm just a drifter."
"Popular? Nah."
"Uh yeah you are."
He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.
"Hate when girls think im just some stuck up rich popular boy."
"Sorry I don't mean to hurt your feelings. I never had many nice popular friends."
"Oh. Why?"
"I don't know. Just don't have many that are nice. Their mostly worried about what people think and stuff whereas I on the other hand am a "free" spirit and I will do whatever I please no matter what people think."
"You know your a real cutie, well from what I can tell."
I laughed. Then my cell rang and suddenly I remembered I was suppose to be meeting Gabe and Sammy and I jumped.
"What's wrong?!"
"Oh I forgot I was heading to meet my ride when I ran into you."
"Man first I knock all your stuff over then make you nearly miss your ride...Why dont you let me make it up to you tomorrow afternoon and take you out for some coffee."
I think for a minuite phone still ringing, and my mind going a million directions.
"Pleeezee say yes."
The cuteness in his voice and his pleading eyes made me say yes.
"Awesome where shall I pick you up?"
"How bout I meet you there."
His eyes flashed a look of sadness then back to normal. I gave him my number and ran to meet my soon to be upset friends. I got to the car and Gabe was asleep. Sammy was in the drivers seat ready to drive us home. I said a prayer for protection but then got in.
"FINALLY!!!" Sammy screamed but not loudly enough for Gabe to wake up. Then she backed up and sped out of the parking lot and drove us crazily home.
