Ember: A New Beginning

All I heard was the blood-cringing scream of my family as they burned to the ground along side my house. I was a light sleeper and got woke up by smell and sound of a roaring fire. I guess that's a perk of being a light sleeper, but if you ask me... I'd rather die with my family than watch them burn. My family is a heavy sleeper and I was put with the gift of light sleeping. I tried waking up my mother, but she just wouldn't wake up. "MOMMY!!!MOMMY, THERE'S A FIRE!WAKE UP MOMMY!WE HAVE TO GET BROTHER!!" I screamed and screamed until my throat burned and I couldn't breath from the smoke. I couldn't help.... I ran out of what remained of the house and got a third degree burn. As the tears ran down my face the fire-fighters, cops, and ambulance showed up.

"What happened!!???" the firefighter said. "the house .... it caught fire..." I coughed. "FOR JESUS CHRIST'S SAKE. HOW?! HOW DID IT HAPPEN!?" the man screamed. I watched all the other men put the fire out and rescue my family. "I...I don't know" I quietly said. "Why didn't you warn your family!?" he asked. "I did, they wouldn't wake up... I'm the only light sleeper, the fire woke me up... I tried, I really did, but they just wouldn't wake up." I sobbed noticing that the pain was getting worse. "Why are you burned?" he asked. "Isn't it obvious???" I asked. "I got severely burned trying to escape." I said with haste. "I..I'm sorry i wasn't thinking , we'll get you to the hospital ASAP" he said. By then I could barely think and see, and even breath with the pain. everything went dark as they hauled me off....
