After I recovered from the hospital they sent me to an orphanage, and it wasn't exactly as I expected it to be. First of all, I still had a few burns, which made me stand out COMPLETELY. And I wasn't very well known, but I liked it that way. I wasn't swarmed at first either. I'm guessing its because i was covered in scars and looked terrifying. I had to take medication to make my scars disappear faster twice a day. One in the morning and one at night. And trust me they were like horse pills. And they tasted really gross. When I gaged from them, kids would stare, and it's not a good one either. Second of all, the place smelled like a sweaty gym full of grown men. It actually gave me nightmares the first night. The walls were half painted and chipped and old. the floors were creaky and mushy in places. the halls were actually corridors with flickering lights. Once you think about it, it almost sounds like a horror movie or game. And that's how it felt. Third of all, the other kids and "care takers" were horrid. the people who took care of us, didn't do a very good job of it.... at all! There were fights happening left and right. I was picked on for my scars. And I went from an innocent girl from a house fire, to a total bitch. And I wasn't pretty when I got steamed up either, I would get glowing ember eyes when I got mad... explaining why my name is Ember.Yup I was named after burnt up coals, a gem and the way my eyes glow when I got mad, its weird I know. The food was prison food and I became one of the most known kids. All because of my temper. "Oh don't mess with her, I herd that she freaks out when she gets mad." that's pretty much all I herd and "why does she have scars like that?" and "what's wrong with her?" Well I handed some boys ass to him one day, and trust me it was pretty cool. I was proud of my self, and I'm sure I was respected after that.
