"I wish Pokemon would find their own babysitters." You griped, sealing a Ziploc bag full of poffins and ripe Oran berries. "I'm always stuck with these kids."

In truth, the three Pokemon you were soon babysitting with your friends were not children. They were anything but. Except, in size, stature, and physique, you'd think they were as old as a human eleven-year-old.

However, they were legendary Pokemon watched over by Cresselia but since she was at Crescent Isle all the way in the Hoenn region, you were busy taking turns watching them. Today, you'd have no choice but keep an eye on them.

You sighed and tossed the usual baby-sitting essentials into a backpack then took off down the street.

At the end of the cul-de-sac, Barry and Lucas stood waving their arms high in the air.

"Hurry up, ya Slowpoke!" Lucas called through his cupped hands.

"Yeah!" Barry chimed in. "Or else it'll be a $10,000 fine!"

You rolled your eyes. He was always threatening to fine you but with all the battles he lost, you weren't so sure he had the money to be making bets left and right.

"Keep your pants on!" You cried out. "I'm coming."

Once the three of you fell into step with each other, Barry began rambling.

"This is gonna be day!" He told you and Lucas. "I can already see it! And once Mesprit gets a load of me, we'll be partners for life!"

"Not on your life." Lucas mumbled, straightening his scarf. "Besides, she's a Pokemon! Why on Earth would you want to date a Pokemon?"

"They're humans now!" Barry shouted. "Why not? My motives are completely normal." He paused before adding, "Nowadays."

"He's right, Lucas." For once, you actually agreed with what your insane friend was saying. "I've seen it. I think Dawn has the hots for her Prinplup."

"Seriously?" Barry and Lucas asked in unison.

You nodded. "Ever since he grew up, she's be all over him."

"Can I say toshishita boyfriend?" Lucas couldn't contain his laughter. "That girl never ceases to amaze me."

The three of you found yourselves on the front steps of Lunar Mansion. It was a large building off the coast of Sunyshore, little ways from Victory Road. Its walls were painted with with a hint of a lavender hue near the bottom to create an ombré effect. The big windows were all made of beautifully stained glass that reflected a gorgeous light onto the ground beneath.

"Now let's remember," Lucas raised a finger as if to ring the doorbell but turned to face you and Barry instead. "We're here to babysit, not hit on the Pokemon we're watching. Capeesh?"

Before you could rebuttal, your mind replayed that one time you flirted with Uxie. It was by mere accident and you hadn't meant to do it but it happened. You dropped head guiltily and nodded. "We understand."

When Barry didn't answer, you elbowed him. "Y/N! Ouch!" He yelped in pain. Barry met Lucas' eyes then frowned. "Yeah, yeah, we get it! Now ring the doorbell before I fine you!"

"Alright," Lucas pressed his finger into the doorbell. It chimed with a cute little melody.

The pink front door flew open. Uxie stood in the doorway dressed in yellow peacoat. It was obvious she had just returned from school as she was still wearing her uniform. "You are late, humans." She scanned the three of you. When her eyes landed on you, she smiled bashfully. "Hurry and come in. We want our after-school snack."

"Well hello to you too then." Barry snapped, still upset over the pain your elbow caused.

As you entered the front room, you noticed Azelf perched on one of the many glass tables, doing her homework.

Mesprit was playing checkers all by herself in the corner. Lucas could barely get in a word as Barry hurried to her side and insisted she let him play.

"Humans, you're here." Azelf didn't look up from her homework. "I need help with my homework."

"I got it." Lucas leaned to one side and let his backpack slide off his shoulder. He bent down then unzipped his bag and pulled out a pencil.

That left you with Uxie. She was sitting in the dining room waiting patiently for her after-school snack. She noticed you approaching from the corner of her eyes and her smiled widened.

"What do you want this time?" You asked, opening up your backpack and pulling out her options. "I bought Oran berries this time because you said they're your favorite but I also made poffins with some Oran berries in them. I'm not as good as my Mom so they may not be so good bu-"

"Let's eat both of them!" Uxie suggested excitedly.

"Okay." You shrugged. "But seriously, the poffins might suck."

Uxie giggled. "You're a funny human. Mother says there are lots of funny humans."

"You mean Cresselia?" You asked as you sat down. "Why do you call her Mother?"

"Because humans have Mothers. Since we are humans now, we should have a Mother too. That's what the humans at school say."

"Well, some families are different." You said as you pried open the Ziploc bag. "Some don't have Mothers, only Fathers. Or vice-versa. Some don't have either."

"Fam-i-lee? What's that?" Uxie tilted her head in questioning.

"Ah," You had forgotten she hadn't been human for long. "A family is a group of people. They live together and love each other and take care of each other. They don't necessarily have to share the same blood either. Family is family."

"So, you and me." Uxie pointed at you and then at herself. "You and me are like a family." She grinned so brightly, the tops of her cheeks nearly reached her eyelids.

You couldn't help but laugh and nod. "Of course. You and me are a family."
