They were awakened in the morning by thunder. A storm was raging outside and rain pounded on her bedroom window. A bright bolt of lightning shot through the sky causing her to jump.
"Scared of a little thunderstorm?" he asked, pulling her close to him. She laughed and swatted at him.
"No, it just startled me. What time are you recording today?"
"Well, when I'm supposed to be there and when we actually start recording are two different things. We usually dick around for an hour or two before we actually start recording. I said I'd be there around 5:30."
"Hopefully this monsoon will have lightened by the time you have to drive down there," she said. "Do you you have anything else going on today?"
"No, that was my only plan for the day. Why? Trying to get rid of me already?"
"No, actually. I was hoping you could stay for a while. I have no idea what we'll do, but I'd love your company." She looked up at him and he smiled at her.
"Yeah, I can stay. I'm sure we could find something to do." He leaned down and kissed her softly.
"Are you hungry? I can make us something."
They got dressed and headed out of the room. They ate and watched another movie, the storm outside fluctuating in intensity. Around 3:00 he told her needed to go. It was gloomy outside and she was feeling melancholy so she didn't want to say good-bye.
"Sure you don't want to just stay here with me instead?" she asked, batting her eyelashes in a exaggerated manner.
"That sounds a hell of a lot better than going out in this mess. But I already said I'd do it today."
"If you stay I'll let you play with these," she said, placing his hands on her breasts. He sighed and gave them a little squeeze, running fingers over the nipples.
"Well that's one thing I won't be doing at the podcast, that's for sure." He looked at her and noticed that something seemed a little off. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," she said, offering a weak smile. "I think it's just the weather. Kind of a downer, ya know?"
"I do. I really wish I could stay." He pulled her in for a hug and they sat like that for a few moments before she stood.
"Be careful," she said as she walked him to the door. "Call me later?"
"You can count on it." She wrapped her arms around his waist and kissed him aggressively, leaving him wanting more. "Damn. You're making it really hard to leave." She smiled at him and opened the door.
"Come back any time," she said. He gave her another quick kiss before dashing out to his car.
On his way home from Red Bank he called her. He often had the company of his friend Stacy on the drive but she was working. They were still talking when he pulled his Jeep into his driveway.
"When can I see you again?" he asked as he unlocked the front door. Brooklyn cat greeted him immediately and he bent down to pick her up as he shut the door. She meowed loudly at him.
"Which cat was that?"
"Brooklyn. No sign of the other two. Might be mad at me being gone for so long."
She chuckled. "I'm free this weekend," she said. "So you just let me know when you have some down time. Your schedule is far more chaotic than mine."
