Chip was a small Meerkat living on her own in the Saraha desert. Usually Meerkats live in large groups, Chip did not like being so close to so many other meerkats, its crowded. Today she was foraging for bugs outside her burrow.

Dig dig dig dig, as she was digging she saw a shiny black beetle with its rear end sticking out of the hole she was digging. But, just as she was going to put that juicy insect in her mouth, she heard a loud shriek coming from the sky. When she turned her head upwards she saw another meerkat with her hind leg between the beak of A HUGE FAAAALCOOOON!
Chip dropped the beetle, and without thinking sprinted towards the meerkat in distress, even if it was putting her own life at risk.

Shakespeare was enjoying her first duty as a Sentinel. Her job was to lookout for danger as her family ate. She was standing on a large rock in the open Saraha desert. Although, she has the feeling she was Sentinal because the other meerkats don't enjoy her eating habits, or grooming habits, or talking habits, or sleeping habits or any of her bad habits at all. While she was in deep thought, she didn't even see that her family left her all alone in the vast dry desert.
Neither did she see the brown falcon hovering a few hundred feet above her head.

Chip saw the falcon disappear into the Baobab tree, then took of from its tallest branches, perhaps to look for another meal. In case you didn't know Baobab trees are purdy biiiig, and the only branches are at the tipp-ity top. How am I gonna get up there? Then she pretended to be in the mind of a falcon. What's better than eating one meerkat? Two meerakts! She sprinted to an open area where the falcon could easily see her, then she made it seem she was injured. Chip began limping in small circles to appeal to the falcon, all predators are lazy, all predators want an easy catch.

Shakespeare was dropped in a nest of mud and twigs, next to her were three teardrop shaped eggs. Never in her life did she feel as vulnerable as she did now, but not only that, she was famished. Well, if I'm about to become falcon food, i might as well feel rested when I am. At once she curled up with her tail over her sleepy eyes, and fell asleep.

Chip didn't bother to struggle in the talons of an animal four times her size, but she couldn't help knowing that id she failed to help the stranger, they would both be eaten. As they approached the nest, Chip could not believe her Oculus and her Optic. She hasn't even been trying to escape! She was sleeping the entire time! As she was dropped into the nest the rustle of the fall made the other meerkat wake up,"Is it dinnertime yet?"
Unbelievable! She thinks she was whisked away to a five-star restaurant! But, now was not the time to realize her rescue was for nothing more than a loafer. They had to jump off the tree.

The falcon attempted to take a bite of Chip, but she dodged by hopping over to a different side of the nest, "We have to jump off the tree!"
The stranger meerkat had an uncertain look on her face.
"But won't we, like, break our legs?"
Chip snickered, "Kats always land on their feet!"
As the falcon was about to take another bite out of them they leaped out of the 150 foot tree.
They dropped onto the ground like an egg dropping from a tree that is 150 feet as well, but they didn't crack.
"Follow me!" Chip was not even a moment hesitant to lead a complete stranger into her home, but she'd rather have her than the falcon.
They sprinted across the desert as the falcon was almost above them. As the falcon was about to swoop down for the meerkats, Chip made a sharp turn into her burrow.

After they stopped panting for a while, the stranger introduced herself, " Hi, I'm Shakespeare!"
"I'm Chip" she said with her chin help high. As Chip waited for a thank you, Shakespeare said,
"Can I stay the night? My mob lives a while from here."
Chip agreed, and Shakespeare did spend the night, spent over TEN YEARS WORTH OF NIGHTS!

The end.
