"I love you," I whisper.
He looks at me in horror, not sure if he heard right.
He slowly let's go of his grip, "what?"
"I-" I stop myself.
What I said was true.
And I can't take back loving him, even if I wanted too.
He completely let's go of my grip, and looks away from me. His eyes are full of sorrow, and regret.
He finally looks back up to me, smiling, "I love you too, Clarity. But you understand that this can't happen, right?"
His words stung, yes, but I did understand.
He's not ready for committment, and neither am I.
He has said that no matter what, he'll always be there for me, though.
In the back of my mind, I always knew that this was too good to be true.
He leans his forehead against mine, "I'm sorry."
I'm not sure what he was sorry for, "Why are you-"
He moves away from me, "I have to go, I'll talk to you later."
And then he's gone.
"Damien, you can't do this to me," I whisper to myself, as I stand outside of my old house door.
I lean my head against the door, and then after a while of thinking, I unlock the door and open it.
Silence.
That's all I'm hearing.
That's all I'll ever hear.
Silence.
My eyes shoot open when I hear a loud call of my name, "Clarity!"
I look around the room, and I realize that I'm in Nicole's room. I try searching for her around the room from where I'm laying, but I finding no sign of her.
I groan, and reluctantly get up from her mattress, "What do you-"
I'm at the top of the stairs, and I see Nicole standing next to the boy I love.
My heart sinks, and my chest throbs in hurt and pain.
I slowly make my way down the stairs, "What are you doing here?" I said, stealthy.
Ryder's eyes shoot up towards mine, and they hold warmth and hope, "Hey-"
I cut him off by shooting him a dark glare, "Don't." I breathe, "Just, don't."
I feel like I have said that before.
His eyes soften, "Love-"
I stop in my steps, "You do not get to say that."
He sighs in defeat, "Alright."
I give him a look in satisfaction, and finally make it down the stairs.
I look over to Nicole, and she shrugs, and then leaves the room. I glare at the back of her head.
"I'm sorry-" he starts.
I whip my head back towards him, my eyes narrowing, and my lips pursing, "Like I haven't heard that one before," I roll my eyes.
He grabs my hand, "Please, look at me."
