His eyes meet mine the moment I take a step inside his room. He looks at me with a surprised and confused expression on his face.
I can't blame him. I don't really know what to say or do and I can see he feels the same way.
I shut the door behind me and awkwardly stand there, mumbling a 'Hi' and receiving one from him. How am I going to ask him about Harry without Zayn knowing I know Harry and he's with me?
''How uh, how are you?'' I ask him and he gets on his feet and walks towards me. For the first time in my life I feel intimidated by Zayn, the boy who used to come to the place Harry is at now.
''What are you doing here?'' He harshly asks and I immediately take a step away from him.
''I heard about your arrest, I wanted to see if you're okay.'' I mumble.
When Emma told me about Zayn's arrest I didn't only think about Harry, but also about Zayn.
So yes, I kind of lied to Harry about me 'sort of' knowing Zayn, but what does it matter? Zayn and I used to be really good friends until he changed into the so called 'bad boy'. But that he is a bad boy doesn't mean he would kill someone.
I know he would never do that. Never.
''Why would you care?'' He scoffs and walks to his bed, sitting down on it.
''Because you're my friend.'' He narrows his eyes at me and I can see his jaw tense.
''We aren't friends. Friends wouldn't let each other down and that's exactly what you did.'' He spats.
''That's not true Zayn, and you know it.'' I spat back as I walk towards him. ''We lost contact because we've both changed.''
He coldly laughs at me and shakes his head at me. ''Vicky, you've never changed. You're still little Vicky who's friendly to everyone.''
If he thinks I'm friendly, why does he act like this?!
''Fine Zayn, you know what? I actually came here because I do care about you. But you obviously don't want me here so I will just leave!'' I snap at him and open the door to walk away from him.
''Wait.'' I hear him say behind me. I stop walking and turn around to face him.
He got off his bed and is now standing in front of me. He has changed a lot. He got so many tattoos in quite a short time. A tattoo on his forearm seems to be quite familiar to me. I've seen it before.
This morning on Harry's arm.
Zayn follows my gaze and tries to pull the short sleeve of his t-shirt over the tattoo.
''What does it mean?'' I ask him and he uncomfortably clears his throat.
''Nothing. It's meaningless.'' It can't be a coincidence that Zayn and Harry have the exact same tattoo on the exact same please without a thought or meaning behind it.
''I didn't do it, I swear.'' He suddenly says after a minute of complete silence. ''I believe you.'' I barely whisper. ''Someone is playing a game with us.'' He mumbles more to himself than to me.
''Us ?'' I repeat and he nods his head. ''Yes. Me and my... friends.''
I want to get the answers Harry needs but I don't know what to ask.
''Why ?'' I eventually manage to bring out.
''Because... because we've got something from them.'' He sighs. ''Zayn, you can trust me. You know that.'' I assure him.
''No Vicky, I don't want to get you into this. It's dangerous.'' He has no idea how deeply I'm into 'this' already.
''I want to help you.''
