Dingdong!
Alexa was in the main room when she heard the doorbell ring. Since she was the one who's closest to the door she went ahead and answered it. It was a delivery guy carrying a large bouquet of flowers.
"Delivery for Alexa Spencer."
"That's me." she replied. She was puzzled. Who would send her flowers?
He held out a clipboard with a pen attached to it. She smiled at him as she signed it. "You have a nice day, ma'am." he tipped his cap and turned around to leave.
"Who sent these?" she wondered. She sniffed the flowers and they smelled as good as they looked. Her eyes dropped on the card and read it.
Alexa,
Please say yes to dinner with me.
M
Mark.
He sent these. Lexi can't understand why he would send these. She had an unsettling feeling in her gut that there was something more to this. She doesn't want to make a big deal out of it because it was just flowers. Very beautifully arranged flowers But she can't help but feel curious to find why Mark would send her flowers and ask her to dinner.
Dingdong!
The ringing of the doorbell for the second time within the last hour snapped Lexi out of her trance and she welcomed the distraction. She didn't bother setting the flowers down because she was going to go into the kitchen and look for a vase to put them in. She opened the door to see Angela, Sophia, Amanda, Ariana and Isabella at the front door with huge smiles on their faces.
"Lexi!" Ariana shrieked as she lunged forward to give her a hug.
"Hey Ladies! What bring you here? I would've prepared some snacks or something if I'dd known that you were dropping by." she said as she hugged them one by one.
"We wanted to pay you a surprise visit since we were in the area." Sophia replied, "How have you been?" she asked.
"I'm okay. Busy with work." Lexi shrugged.
Angela's eyes widened when she saw the bouquet in her arms. "Who sent you those flowers?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows.
Lexi hesitated, "Marksentthem." She said quickly, beginning to turn red. Then she heard shrieking.
"WHAT?!?!?!" all girls said in chorus.
"I thought you weren't interested in him." Amanda pointed out. "that's why you were so upset last Friday night when your parents dropped the marriage bomb on you. Then he sends you flowers? I don't get it."
Speaking of Friday night, she hasn't seen or heard from Mark since she left his hotel room. The key card was just sitting there burning a hole in her purse. She feels that she doesn't have a use for it because she has no plans of ever being in contact with him for as long as she can avoid him.
