PROLOGUE - MEET THE PLAYBOY

"Marriage!! Are you insane?"

Mark Hamilton looked at his dad incredulously. Is this old man serious? He expects him to marry a girl he hasn't even ever met??? What century does he think they're living in??

"Hell no! You must be insane enough to believe that I would agree to this sort of arrangement. Look, I understand that the Spencers are your friends as well as your biggest rivals in business but I cant see why I have to sacrifice myself for your own interest?? The last time I checked we're not in the middle ages. So there is no way in hell I'm gonna ever let you drag me into this!" He shouted, "if you're so desperate to merge our company with the Spencers', why dont you marry the girl?"

He's not really ready to give up his single status just yet. He loves his life too much. Marriage would only put a cramp on his jetset lifestyle. At 29, he is at his prime. He's very well known for his prowess in the boardroom and in the bedroom. He has an endless supply of beautiful women who would give anything to be his lover. He loves women too much to sacrifice it to spend the rest of his life with one woman. And besides, he doesn't believe in marriage. It's not for him.

Richard Hamilton just looked at his only heir and said nothing. Mark and his exploits have been the headline of every tabloid in the country. Not a day goes by that he didn't wish that he would find the right girl settle down with and raise a family. Damn it to hell! I'm not getting any younger! He thought furiously. He wants to hear the sound of children's playing in this house. So he made it his mission to find him the perfect bride and has found the right one.

Alexa Spencer

She's the one. He has known her since she was young. Of course she hasnt made any appearances in society eversince she left for college 5 years ago. According to her parents she just finished getting her degree in finance from Stanford. The girl does not have a single rebellious bone in her body. She was groomed to be the perfect daughter and the perfect bride. And now that she's back home, he can't wait to start planning the wedding. It will be the wedding of the year. He and her parents have agreed that their kids would be perfect for each other. Not only that, it would also ensure the future of their companies. Its hitting two birds with one stone.

"Are you finished?" Richard cut in. "You listen to me, Mark and you listen well." He glared at his son. "You are gonna marry the girl and that is final! I have had enough of having to read about your numerous affairs in tabloids. It is time that you settled down with a decent girl and the Spencer girl is the perfect choice for you."

"But dad! You're being unreasonable! I don't want to get married! You know how I feel about the concept of it. You also know that I think that it isn't for me."

"Alexa Spencer is a decent girl. She's beautiful, kind, intelligent and obedient. She comes from a very good family and you can't see her name in any tabloid or linked in any scandal. I let you have your fun. And now it's time to settle down and start having kids. When you meet her, you'd like her. I'm sure of it."

Mark opened his mouth once more to argue only to close it again. Knowing his dad, when he has made up his mind about something there is no way you can change it. The only thing you can do is drop it and give in. Because there is no way you're gonna win an argument with Richard Hamilton. That's what makes him one of the top businessmen in the country.

He just slumped his shoulders as a sign of defeat. "Fine! I'll marry her. So when is the wedding?" He asked.

"We'll start planning it as soon as we let Alexa know about the engagement--------"

"What?!?! She doesnt even know that she's engaged??" He can't believe this. He is willing to bet that this Alexa girl is not gonna agree to this arrangement. So there's still hope of getting out of this. "Dad, this is never gonna work!" He reasoned, "I'm pretty sure that she's gonna go into hiding once she finds out that she's engaged to a complete stranger."

Richard held out his hand. "You're not getting out of this. Alexa's parents and I have agreed that you two are getting married as soon as the details have been finalized."

Mark didn't argue with him anymore. You win this one. But wait til I prove how wrong you are. I'm gonna enjoy rubbing it in your face...
