Chapter 1: Devil Watch

Your P.O.V.
"(Y/n)!!" You turn around and see your friend Azuna Kuzuha running towards you. She looked worried so you concluded that it had something to do with Ritsuka Tachibana. Those two have been friends for a while and you met both of them when high school started. A little while ago, Azuna told you about how Ritsuka was the holder of the grimoire and how that made her a target for Devils and Vampires. She had also told you that her and Lindo, Ritsukas brother, were exorcists. Even though your just a human, you also cared about Ritsuka and wanted to do your best at keeping her safe.
"Azuna, what's wrong? Where's Ritsuka?" You ask when Azuna reaches you. "I can't find her anywhere!" She cries, "I went to her house this morning and she already left for school!" Seeing how worried she was, you tried your best to console her. "I'm sure she's fine Azuna, let's go check the classroom." With that, you two head off the your first class.
Once you two get to class, you see Ritsuka sitting at her seat looking through her notebook. You sigh I'm relief as Azuna runs over to her and interrogates her with questions. "Ritsuka! Are you alright? Are you hurt? Why did you leave without telling me? Rem and his friends didn't bother you right?" Ritsuka let's out a small laugh, "Its Ok Azuna, I just wanted to get some last minute studying in. And no I haven't seen Rem today," Azuna calms down a little. Rem and his friends are devils and have been harassing Ritsuka for the grimoire so your glad to hear that she hasn't run into them today. However, Ritsuka has been talking to them more often to try and find information about her mothers kidnapping.
You and Azuna take your seats as the teacher walks in to start the lesson. You turn and whisper to her. "Azuna, you and Lindo should tell Ritsuka the truth" you tell her, "it's not good to go on keeping stuff from her." Azuna turns to you wide-eyed. "(Y/n), you know I can't do that. What if she doesn't want to be friends anymore? Or she gets mad at us?" She questions you, "This is what's best for her, what she doesn't know won't hurt. Besides, I have a plan." "I guess..." You sigh and begin to start on your notes.
**After School**
"I can't wait for the festival!" Azuna exclaims happily. You and her were walking Ritsuka home and discussing what your class should do for the upcoming festival. "Neither can I, I love decorating." You agree. "I'm really looking forward to it also." Ritsuka tells you guys as you approach her house. You see Lindo outside blessing the front entrance. You and Azuna wave to him as Ritsuka runs up to him. "Hello, Azuna, (Y/n), will you two be coming in?" You politely decline his offer. "No thanks, I have to help my mom with dinner" Azuna also couldn't stay but before she left her and Lindo made eye contact and nodded at each other, like some kind of silent agreement, without Ritsuka noticing. You decided to ignore it and began to head home.

You wake up to the sound of your phone buzzing. It was 1 in the morning, who could be texting you at this time? You check your phone and see a message from Azuna telling you to meet her in the park. It must be important for her to message you now so you throw on a jacket and sneak out. Your room was on the first floor and your parents probably wouldn't agree to you go out so late so you decide to sneak out the window to avoid waking them.
When you arrive at the park, you see Lindo and Azuna waiting for you. "Hey guys, what's wrong?" You ask as you approach them. "Nothing, we just wanted to discuss our plan with you" Lindo says, his tone serious. "We know your no an exorcist, but you also care about Ritsuka, so we want you to help us." You nod and Lindo continues. "Were all going to be assigned to keep an eye on one of the student council members," he says, "If we keep track of where they are, we can make sure that they aren't bothering Ritsuka. This way we can be more subtle about what were doing so Ritsuka doesn't get suspicious." You pause for a little bit, taking it all in. "So how do you want me to stop them if I don't have any special abilities?" You ask them. Azuna answers you. "Just make sure they don't get near her, I'm sure it will be fine." "Alright, I'll do my best." You tell her. Lindo continues to explain the plan. "There's 4 devils: Rem, Shiki, Urie and Mage. I'll watch Rem, Azuna will watch Urie and Shiki and (Y/n) you'll take Mage. Do you guys understand?" You and Azuna both nod. "Alright, well start tomorrow, I'm going to head back before Ritsuka realizes I'm gone." With that Lindo heads off. "I'll go too." Azuna tells you, "Don't worry, you'll be fine." She calls to you as she begins to walk home. You take a deep breath and begin to walk home. The whole way there you think about Mage and how to deal with him. He's tall and muscular, plus he's a devil so that makes him even stronger. "I just hope I'll be able to keep Ritsuka safe" you say to yourself as you continue to walk down the quiet street.
