Chapter 5: Kill Them

You had been crying for the last couple hours and you hated yourself for it. You hated how Mage had this effect on you. He was just a devil and you only met him to protect Ritsuka, but still you could help but feel upset by his words. Even if he was annoying and scary at some times, you couldn't help falling for him.
All of a sudden your phone vibrates, which brings you out of your thoughts. It was Azuna asking why you weren't at the park yet. You check the time and is already 10:15pm. You cried so long that you forgot about meeting her and Lindo tonight. You quickly got up, put on a jacket and shoes, and climbed out the window to go meet them.
You jogged all the way there, trying to take your mind off Mage. When you arrived, Lindo looked slightly annoyed.
"Sorry I'm late guys," you explained as you ran up to them, "I lost track of time."
"Its fine," Azuna tells you, but she also sounded a little irritated. Lindo glares at you then starts talking. "This isn't working," he starts off, "Rem and his friends are even more persistent than they were before. We have to end it now." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a necklace with a little bottle on it. "This is for you (Y/n)," he says and hand it to you.
"What do I do with it?" You ask examining the liquid inside of the bottle. "Its filled with powerful holy water," he tells you, "I want you to use it to kill Mage."
You stop playing with the necklace and look up at him. You couldn't believe what he just said. "Your serious?" You ask trying to hide the shock in your voice.
"Of course," Azuna answers, "You need something since your not an exorcist, and this will kill him for sure." You didn't want to believe that they actually wanted you to do this. I mean sure your mad at him but you couldn't kill him. You didn't want to kill him. But of course you can't tell Lindo and Azuna that. They would think you were a trader and didn't want to protect Ritsuka.
"When you get the chance, kill them," Lindo tells you and Azuna. You both nod but you felt sick to your stomach.
All of a sudden you guys hear someone running towards you and Lindo and Azuna turn, ready to fight. The Ritsuka comes running around the corner and you all sigh in relief.
"Ritsuka, what are you doing here?" Lindo asks when Ritsuka reaches us.
"I'm sorry Lindo," she says, "I was looking for you since I noticed you weren't home." Lindo, Azuna and Ritsuka turn to walk home. "I'll be fine, but don't leave the house without me knowing," he scolds her. Azuna turns back to me. "See you later (Y/n)!" She calls, "don't forget about the necklace!"
"I wont!" You call after her. When they're our if sight your smile disappears. You walk all the way home to lay down and think about what to do with all of your mixed emotions.
Mage P.O.V.
"This is ridiculous!" Rem says as he enters the student council room. He just got done talking to his father and he's growing impatient, we all were.
If we didn't have people like the exorcists butting in all the time, the grimoire could be ours by now," Shiki says while playing with weed cutters.
"I think he might be onto something," Urie agrees while staring at a rose he held. "If we get them out of the way then we're could get it easily."
You would've joined their conversation but you really didn't care at the moment. You were still thinking about (Y/n) and how you upset her. You couldn't shake this guilty feeling which annoyed you. You were a devil, you weren't supposed to be bothered with stupid feeling like this.
"What do you think Mage?" You hear Urie's voice and it breaks your train of thought. "Oh yeah...sure," you answer not knowing what they're talking about. "Your not even listening!" Urie says glaring at you and Shiki jumps in.
"Of course he's not, hes got other people on his mind," he says walking over you you, "You haven't mentioned Ritsuka in a while so is it someone e-" you smack Shiki over the head, stopping him mid sentence. You couldn't have them finding out about your feelings for (Y/n). However your smack only made Shiki happy so that didn't really help. Finally Rem speaks.
"We have to get rid of them," he says standing up, "I'll get Ritsuka, Shiki and Urie you guys get the exorcists and Mage, you can handle that human whose always with them."
Urie and Shiki nod but you just stare at Rem. "You mean...you want me to kill the girl?" You ask hoping he would say no. "Yes, when you have the opportunity," he says to you and vanishes. Shiki and Urie get ready to leave as well. "Good luck Mage," Shiki says to you smirking, and they both disappear. You just sit there in shock. You really had to kill her? You really didn't want to but you had to for the grimoire which was more important, right? You sigh and vanish, wondering how you were going to pull this off.
Your P.O.V.
You didn't see Mage at all during school which was a relief. You didn't know how you were going to kill him or if you even wanted to. You didn't see Azuna or Ritsuka at school either which was weird. Ritsuka you understand since she's probably with Lindo but Azuna has never missed a day. Since school was over you decide to go visit her after school.
As you walking down the street a big cloud of smoke appears in front of you, causing you to stop. The smoke made it hard to breath but when it cleared up you see Mage standing in front of you. He was the last person you wanted to see so you brush past him.
"Oy! Come here, we need to talk!" He calls after you, but you ignore him. Suddenly you feel an electric shock run through your body, making you drop your books and fall. The last thing you remember we as Mage picking you up. After that everything goes black.
