Chapter 2: Encounter

You wake up and see that its morning time, so you pull yourself out of bed to get ready for school. Your talk with Azuna and Lindo kept you up all night so you overslept. You spent all night trying to figure out how someone like you could protect Ritsuka from a devil. "This is going to be difficult," You sigh as finish putting on your school uniform. You go into the kitchen, grab an apple and head out the door. You know you should be in a hurry but you already missed your first class so you decided that you might as well take your time.
When you approach the school building your greeted with the sound of a window shattering and someone screaming. "Ritsuka!" You scream as you run over to where the sound came from. You know that Rem and his friends were probably the cause of this. When you turn the corner you run straight into someone and you tumble to the ground.
"(Y/n)?" You look over and see Ritsuka on the ground a couple feet away from you. You were about to ask her if she was alright when you hear a deep voice come from underneath you.
"Ow...what the hell...?" You look down and see none other than Mage Nanashiro, the devil you were assigned to keep an eye on. He makes eye contact with you and you quickly stand up trying to hide the blush on your face. "W-What are you doing with Ritsuka?" You question him trying your to sound intimidating. However, he must've seen through your act because he just smirked at you. "I don't think that's any of your business" He says standing up. "We were just going to talk," You go over to Ritsuka and help her up. "Well she doesn't want to talk to you," you say and begin to pulls Ritsuka away, giving Mage one last look.
Mage P.O.V.
As I watched that girl walk away with Ritsuka I just laughed to himself. I couldn't believe that this human thinks she's could stop me. "I'll let it go this one time, but if she gets in the way again, I'll have to deal with her," I say to himself. Before walking away I noticed something shining on the ground. Crouching down, I picked up a necklace with a little locket on it. "This probably belongs to that human girl" I conclude, "I might as well take this for all the trouble she caused me." With that, I make my way back to meet with Rem.
Your P.O.V.
"(Y/n) thank you for saving me." Ritsuka tells you as you walk back into the building. "Your welcome, it was nothing." You reassure her.
"Ritsuka! (Y/n)!" Azuna runs up to greet both of you. "Are you guys alright?" She says. "Yes were fine, let's just go back to class." You say. You just wanted to forget about the embarrassing situation that had happened a few minutes before. You guys make your way back to class and take your seats.
About 30 minutes into class you begin to daydream. You couldn't get the image of Mages' surprised face out of your head. Every time you think about you landing on top of him you begin to blush all over again. "What's wrong (Y/n)? Your face is red, are you sick?" Azuna asks you, interrupting your thoughts. You jump at the sound of her voice. "What? Me? I'm fine don't worry!" You laugh nervously. She looks even more worried "Well if you say so...by the way, where's your necklace?" "My necklace?" You look down and notice that the necklace you got from your grandma was gone. "Oh no! I must've dropped it outside!" You exclaim. Azuna puts a hand on your shoulder. "Just go look after school, do you have an idea of where you could've dropped it?" An image of Mage popped into your head. "Yeah I do actually..." You say to yourself as you begin to think about the devil once again.
Mage P.O.V.
"We have a problem." I say as I enter the student council room. Rem, Shiki and Urie all look up as I enter. "What's wrong? Does it have anything to do with my precious butterfly?" Urie asks. I nod. "There's this human girl who interrupted me trying to take her." Rem was the second one to speak. "You let a human interfere with retrieving the grimoire?" He says, "And you think your going to be the first one to get it?" "Shut up." I say angrily, "I was just telling you that I was going to be getting her out of the way so that I can get to the grimoire." Shiki laughs. "And what about those exorcists? We need them out of the picture too." You guys can deal with them, I'll deal with the human I say, exiting the room.
Rem P.O.V.
"What does this human think she's doing." I sigh. "She doesn't know what she's getting herself into Urie says as he continues admiring his rose. "With Mage taking care of her, I'm sure she wont be a problem for long." Shiki smirks and begins to cut up his flowers happily.
Your P.O.V.
As soon as school ended you rush outside to the spot where she bumped into Mage. However when you arrived, you see that someone has already beaten you to the spot. "Well you came back just like I expected" Mage says as he stands casually in the spot where you two first met. "What are you doing here?" You say glaring at him. You've already had enough of him from this mornings incident. He starts to walk towards you, still smirking. "I just thought you would be interested in going somewhere with me." He tells you. You ignore him and begin to search the ground for your necklace. "Well you thought wrong," you say angrily, "so if you could leave me alone, that would be great." Suddenly he scoops you up in his arms and begins to walk away.
"HEY! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING!" you begin to yell and hit him in the chest, but that seemed to have no effect. "I know what your looking for and I'll give it to you if you come talk with me," Mage says suddenly making you pause in your attempt to injure him. "You have my necklace?" You ask. "I sure do." He says in an annoying tone. You sigh. "Fine but what do you want to talk about? I'm not telling you about Ritsuka!" You say stubbornly. He just laughs at you. "Well see about that," he says before you both vanish, leaving a dark cloud of smoke behind.
