Chapter 7: The Rescue

"What? Who's Lord Nesta?" You ask turning to Mage. You've heard the student council say that name before. "He's the vampire king," he says, "he's probably planning on extracting the grimoire or of Ritsuka tonight, which will kill her."
Your eyes grow wide. You knew that Ritsuka had the grimoire, but you didn't know taking it out would kill her. You needed to get back and tell Lindo and Azuna. You run over to Mage and pull on his sleeves.
"We have to find Azuna and Lindo," you tell him, "They can help since-" "The exorcist boy already knows," Shiki says cutting you off. "But that girl won't be much help anyway, the vampires killed her." You didn't believe him at first so you looked at Mage for confirmation. He looked down at you and sighed. "She died a couple days ago, the night we had that fight." "But..." You started but then you stopped. It must've been when Azuna, Lindo and Ritsuka left the park. You lower your head, feeling that it was somehow your fault. 'If I would've shown up on time Azuna would be alive right now' you thought to yourself. Suddenly you felt a hand grab your arm and look up to see Mage. "There's no time for that now," he says, grabbing onto you, "we have to go save Ritsuka, that's what Azuna would've wanted." You look at him then nod, wiping your eyes. "Your right," you say grabbing onto Mage's arm. 'I'm sorry Azuna, I'll protect Ritsuka for you' you think to yourself, then you and the 3 devils vanish, making your way to the vampire castle.

When you guys arrived, you see Rem and Lindo waiting. Seeing Lindo made you a little more comfortable but them you realized that he and all of the devils changed their outfits. They were all dressed and ready to fight while you were still in your school uniform. "What's the problem?" Mage asks you, noticing your discomfort. You look at him confused. "Nothing, its just that you guys all changed your outfits and I'm stuck in this," you point to your uniform. Mage just smirks at you. "Well, take the jacket off and roll up your sleeves," he tells you, "then it will look cooler." He's obviously just mocking you but you do it anyway.
"Come on, she's this way" Rem yells, and we all sprint down the hallway.
You guys reach the giant door at the end of the hall and when you open it you see Ritsuka, about to be bitten by who you assumed was Lord Nesta. Suddenly, 2 dogs sweep in and stop him just in time. You look and see that their being controlled by a blue haired guy who you've never seen.
"You guys came!" Ritsuka shouts happily, "even you (Y/n)!"
"Ritsuka!" You smile and begin to run towards her, however, a vampire with long pink hair grabs her and holds scissors up to her throat. "Back off!" He shouts, then a crowd of vampires starts to come towards us. Everyone started to attack the vampires except Mage, who quickly scoops me up and puts me behind a rock pillar.
"Mage! What are you doing?" You yelled at him, but stands in front of you, blocking you from seeing anything. "Just stay here (Y/n), I'll protect you," he says, "These vampires could easily kill you." You wanted to help Ritsuka but you knew he was right. You wouldn't be able to defend yourself against a vampire. Mage left you to go fight so you hid behind the pillar. You hated feeling so useless but you knew you would only get in the way if you went out there.
"O ye who lurk in darkness begone!" You can hear Lindos voice and you peak over and see all of the vampire men defeated. You stand up and see Rem and Ritsuka on the 2nd floor. 'Thank God she's ok,' you think then Mage runs up to you. "Are you alright?" He asks looking to see if you were injured. "I'm fine, really," you reassure him, then you hear Lord Nesta. When you look over you see him talking to Lindo, saying that he wants him to join him and be a family. "Lindo no!" You shout, but Lindo already made his way up the steps. You can hear Ritsuka call him but suddenly Lindo stabs the vampire king in the heart. "He got him?" You ask Mage who just shrugged. "I think so," he tells you. Rem and Ritsuka come down and you run over to hug her. "I'm do glad your ok," you tell her. She was crying tears of joy. "I'm do happy to see you (Y/n)." A loud shriek interrupts your reunion. When you look, its Lord Nesta. Wait, he wasn't dead? Everyone seems shocked and the shriek causes you to fly backwards. You would've hit the wall but Mage got behind you just in time. Everyone was pinned to the wall in pain while Lord Nesta explained how his heart wasn't in his body. 'Where else could it be?' You thought, 'What if we never find it?' You feel around for Mages hand and grab onto it, holding in tightly. This could be the end. The vampire king is most likely strong enough to kill them, especially you. You want to close your eyes, afraid of what he was going to do next but all of a sudden you see a bright light. Is that...Ritsuka?
