~Kyouko POV~

I woke up early that morning and decided to make some breakfast for me and Mai. I took a shower and changed into my school uniform. I went into the kitchen and decided to make some scrambled eggs and some toast. I placed the phone next to the stove and began cooking. I heard my phone let out a sound and looked over to see what it was.

I checked my phone and saw that the school had messaged me. They told me that I should no longer wear beanies and that I should no longer hide who I really was. I sighed in defeat and ran my fingers through my hair. It wasn't like I had a problem with this but I was scared that people would judge me. Maybe they won't or maybe they will.

I mean Ruru's a phantom and she comes to school every day and doesn't get judged. But that's different, I'm a student and Ruru isn't. My train of thought was interrupted when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist. "What're you making?" Mai said in a sleepy voice. I couldn't help but smile at how cute she sounded in the morning. "Just some breakfast. Go ahead and change then come out and eat okay?" I told her. She nodded and pulled away to go change.

I watched Mai leave the kitchen. I have to admit, I've been really attached to Mai lately. She wasn't just beautiful, she was strong, independent, caring, and smart. Wait, what am I saying?! I shook my head and turned my focus back on our breakfast.

Once I finished cooking, I I put the food down on the plates and set them down on the table. Mai came out and gave me a bright smile. "Morning," She greeted me and sat down then began to eat.

Once we finished eating, I cleaned up and we headed to school. "Wait, aren't you going to wear your beanie or hide your tail?" She asked confused. I shook my head and explained to her how the school didn't want me to do that anymore. She nodded in understatement and gave me another smile, "Hey, don't worry about people judging you. If anyone tries to bully you, the girls and I will have your back." I couldn't help but grin and wrap an arm around her. "Thanks Mai! You're the best!" She blushed and leaned a bit closer.

Once we got to school, I met up with Reina near the gate. Koito wasn't there though, she told us that she had something to do. "Should we head inside?" I asked them. Reina shook her head, "We're waiting for one more person." "Who?" I asked. "Hey! Sorry I'm late!" A voice behind me said. "Haruhiko, you're always late! You need to learn to wake up on time!" Mai scowled.

My blood ran cold when I heard his name. "Sorry Mai but I- What is she doing here?!" He growled angrily. I turned around to see my brother, glaring at me. It broke my heart that he actually hates me now. He's the only family I had left. "Kyouko-chan!" Ruru said happily and flew up to me. I gave her a small smile and looked back at my brother.

"Why are you here?" He said, trying to contain his anger. "She goes here now. It seems that she has the same homeroom as you as well. She's also going to be joining us in the phantom-hunting club." Koito said. "You're kidding me right?! I was gone one day and now this bastard is everywhere in my life!" He shouted, pointing at me. Everyone was staring at us now. "Haruhiko, that's enough," Mai said. I felt my heart drop. I lowered my wolf ears and looked down at my feet. I felt tears stinging my eyes but I didn't want them to come out. "Kyouko, are you okay?" Reina asked me softly. I felt her soft hand hold mine.

I only gave her a small nod before storming into school. "Kyouko!" I heard Reina call out for me. I didn't stop, I kept on running. I couldn't see who was in my way so I kept on bumping into people. I kept on running until I bumped into someone and fell backward. I hit my head on the floor and groaned in pain. I slowly sat up and rubbed my head. "Kyouko?" A voice said. I opened my eyes a bit, my vision was a bit blurry due to the tears. But out of the tears, I saw a familiar red-haired girl. "Ko-Koito?" I stuttered.

I tried wiping away my tears but Koito grabbed my arm. She pulled my arm away and looked into my silver eyes. She gently wiped away my tears with her thumb and I leaned against her hand. She pulled me close to her chest and I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her closer. I just wanted someone to cry with. I began crying softly on Koito's shoulder. She didn't say anything but held me close. I was glad I bumped into her in an empty hallway or this would have been embarrassing.

Once I stopped crying, I didn't loosen my hold on her. I just wanted to hold her. Koito didn't seem to mind. "Why were you crying?" She asked softly. I would have never seen Koito as the type to comfort someone. She seemed like a really cold person when I met her. "My brother," I simply replied. She nodded her head and said nothing more. I guess she already understood. We stayed like this for a while, enjoying each other's warmth.

"Come on. We have class." She said, getting up. I loosened my hold and stood up with her. She pets me softly on the head, making me smile. "You okay now?" She asked. I nodded and smiled. "Yea, thanks to you." I said. We stood there for a while staring into each other's eyes before begin interrupted by the bell. "Come on. We'll be late if we don't get moving." She said. I nodded and walked along side her.

We arrived at my classroom and I could see that the seat next to me was Haruhiko. He seemed to know it too because he was already glaring at me like crazy. I gulped nervously and looked back at Koito. "Hey don't be nervous alright. It's only gonna be a while." She told me. I sighed and nodded my head. "I'll see you in gym class," She said before walking off to her class.

I took a deep breath and walked into my classroom. Everyone was staring at me. I can't blame them. I literally had wolf ears and a wolf tail. I mean even I would stare. "Kyouko, I didn't know you were a wolf." One of my classmates said. "Hey you better not give us any fleas or lice!" A guy yelled out. I ignored all their questions and comments.

I then felt an eraser thrown at my head. "Hey loser! Did you take your shots at the vet yet?!" A guy yelled, making all his other friends laugh. I sighed and laid my head on my desk, covering my face with my arms. I peeked over at Haruhiko, who had a sympathetic look on his face. "Don't look so sympathetic for someone you hate Haruhiko. Especially me. It just makes me feel worse." I muttered and looked away.

"I don't hate you. I'm still upset about what happened all those years ago." He said. My eyes widened a bit and rose my head. I looked him in the eyes. "You don't hate me...?" I said softly. He gave me a sad smile, "I know that I said I hated you but I could never hate you. You're my sister. Even if you have wolf parts." He chuckled. I smiled sadly but then frowned, "Then why did you make it seem like you hated me." "I want to forgive you for what you did but I can't. Because what you did impacted me so much." He said.

"Is there a way I can make you forgive me?" I asked.

"Earn my trust back. Make the other girls trust you. Make up for what you didn't do for all those years. Make it up to me." He said, staring straight into my eyes.

I smiled and nodded. "I will. I'll make sure to make it up to you if it's the last thing I do." "Good. Because I really did miss my little sister," He said. I groaned and slapped him lightly on the arm, "I'm only younger than you by 10 minutes!" "You're still younger." I rolled my eyes playfully and smiled.

It's good to have my brother back.
