“MAX PUT DOWN THE FUCKING PHONE” I shout heading towards max he has only just dialled 999. He looked up; god there was a lot of confusion tonight.
“Why? She has passed out on the couch.” Max looked as if he was thinking intensely about pressing the call button.
“Look it’s not my place to tell you but Nikkie hasn’t had much luck with hospital trips and trust me it wouldn’t help her condition right now” I tried explaining, I had to get Max to put down that phone. I knew the hospital would not be the best place for Nikkie right now.
“Well what am I going to do? She is in our bus and we don’t know anything about her but her name is Nikkie. You’re going to have to explain everything” Max’s face is concerned, I understand why. I walk off and I feel max follow me I sigh of relief falls upon me as I know he dropped the phone.
I was so scared that something terrible was up with her; she couldn’t be feeling this pain for no reason then passing out.
“As much as you think it’s not your place in telling us about her previous but right now she can’t tell us herself and well we need to know.” My thoughts were broken by Monte’s questions.
“Man we are the only adults here and she’s kinda our responsibility being in our bus in all” Craig continues Monte’s sentence. I begin to think is it for the best if I tell them, but I really don’t want to ruin our trust between us. I am the only one she trust and has told about her life before we met. ‘Fuck I got to tell them’ I thought.
“Well I can’t tell you everything, because some of the stuff she has told me well I don’t really like repeating it.” I didn’t know where to start it was only a year ago she told me but that night was mental and well it was the first time I had seen one of the strongest girls I know break down.
“Well are you going to tell us or not?” Robert comes forward from doing tricks with one of his drum sticks. I still can’t think of where to start, her story is so long and confusing.
“Nikkie hasn’t been physically ill, mainly mentally. When she was younger her biological parents...” I begin to explain in as much detail to the boys, they begin to understand the refusals from Nikkie earlier about the hospital.
Silence fell upon the bus. I could feel the tension wrapping around my throat and tightening like a snake. “Well, we’re going to have to look after her then.” Sigh of relief overcame my body as max spoke the words that released me from the serpents grip. All of the guys in the room stopped and stared at Max as if he had just quit the band. They walk off, now it’s getting serious. I turn to Nikkie and see that she is not getting better. Her flushed cheeks look delicate. I press my cool hand against her forehead, the temperature of her body is inhuman, but I cannot do anything about it as she will not like the fact of not having a long sleeved t-shirt on. I can hear slithers of what the boys are saying in the back room, ‘I hope they don’t mind us here being here, man how are we supposed to get home, how is Nikkie going to cope with her mum damn it Frank pull yourself together now!.’ I bend down to brush the hair out of her face and leave her sleeping. I hear creaks of the door I turn in hope to see escape the fate enter but instead a girl of about sixteen or seventeen stands before me.
