Dreams and Nightmares

The first thing Hera saw was the vine-covered ceiling as she calm her breathing from the dream she had.

But for her, it was a nightmare.

It all started when she heard a familiar voice calling for her. The voice of her son. It sounded like he was in pain and it hurt her. She had wanted to go to him and was about to head for the Olympus gates when her daughters stopped her. Cronus suspicion on them might grow if ever she loses it. Now, she was having nightmares about him and there's nothing she could do. And that made her angrier at herself.

She thought about what Zeus was doing and why Hephaestus was calling for her in distress. She wished she could hear him again so as to know if he was all right. But they were stuck here, unable to do anything about the gods situation. And she was starting to blame herself more often.

"Oh Zeus, what are you doing…" Hera muttered and she got out of bed. She let Zephyr's breath cool her and ease her pain before leaving the room. She went to her sister's room and knocked.

"Come in."

Hera went in to see Demeter on a rocking chair, reading a letter near the fire place. The latter raised an eyebrow and asked "You're still awake?"

"I also ask you the same." She sat on the sofa and asked "What is that?"

She smiled rather happily and answered "It's a letter from my two favorite girls in the world!"

"I should have known."

"What?!"

Hera was startled from her sudden outburst. "What? What's wrong?" She watched her slowly ripped the parchment until she could see her crunched face.

"That ******* Iapetus!"

"What did he do?" She gasped. "Don't tell me-"

She piped up "Yes! That horrid ********!"

"But no! Our father promised us that he nor his brothers wouldn't touch any of the goddesses!"

"But Iapetus did!" Demeter threw the letter into the hearth. "I will murder him! How dare she touch my Melinoe!"

Hera's eyes widened open. "Even an innocent child?! What did he exactly do?"

Demeter was fuming with rage as she said "That bastard, played hopscotch with her!"

"…"

"It's horrible!"

"…I think you need some sleep." She stood up and guided her deranged sister to her bed. She even had to tuck her in while she tried to calm her down. "You get some rest now, Demeter."

She gulped before asking "What brings you here anyways?"

Hera hesitated but said "I-, I just had a nightmare about Hephaestus."

"Are you sure that you heard him? You might just be hearing things."

She looked away. "No. I'm pretty sure he was. He was so much in pain…and then I asked myself what was I still doing here. I just hope that Zeus is-" She was cut off by the sound of a loud snore and looked at the sleeping form of the goddess. Rolling her eyes, she got up and went out.

As she headed back to her room, she was muttering to herself "Of course Hera, Demeter is a good choice in seeking for a good comfort."
