"George, are you sure about this?" you asked for perhaps the hundredth time. It was the night of the Yule Ball, and George was taking you, of all people. He stopped and turned to look at you. Several other couples moved past you into the Great Hall, glancing at the two of you on their way into the Hall. You averted your eyes. George didn't even see them. He was too busy staring at you.
"(Y/N), are you ashamed of me?" he asked finally. Your mouth fell open.
"I could never be ashamed of you. I thought it would be the other way around." George Weasley was a legend. Tall, handsome. Half of the greatest pranking duo here at Hogwarts. He was also a Beater on the Gryffindor team, and people gravitated towards him. He was perfect in your eyes.
"Why would I be ashamed of you?" he asked.
"You know exactly why," you replied.
You, were quite literally the opposite of George. You were short (although nearly everyone was compared to him), and you were far more book smart than he was. You didn't like Quidditch, and you could be a hard person to be around sometimes. But none of those were the reasons you figured he would be ashamed. It was the fact that you were "the enemy": a Slytherin. The Sorting Hat wasn't as quick to place you there as it was Malfoy, but you knew of the animosity between your houses.
Slytherin and Gryffindor had always hated each other. It was just the way things were done. It was the way the rules were written. They saw him and saw good. They saw you and saw evil.
It was how you had seen each other at first too.
Flashback
"I don't think anyone's going down that corridor for a long time," Fred said as he and his brother raced down the hallway. Behind them, Filch's screams were replaced by a loud gagging sound. The mischievous brothers smothered their laughter long enough for George to take out the Marauder's Map and find their getaway.
"It should be right up--"
THUD.
George looked up to see that he had fallen on someone. A girl with (h/c) hair, and amazing (e/c) eyes. Her cheeks had even turned an adorable shade of pink. But then he saw green.
"Slytherin," he said before he could stop himself. He scrambled to get off of her and she rolled her eyes.
"Gryffindor," she replied, glaring at him.
"George!" Fred hissed, peering out from behind a tapestry. "Get back here!" George scrambled behind the tapestry, handing the map to his brother. A few seconds later, they heard Mrs. Norris and Filch approaching.
"Have you seen the Weasley twins run through here?" Filch snarled. There was a pause. The twins held their breath.
They heard the girl gag. "Why do you smell like Dungbombs?"
"Answer the question!"
"I was only asking because I saw Peeves fly through here with a few more Dungbombs. He went that way."
"Peeves!" Filch yelled. His footsteps receded down the corridor.
"Coast is clear," said the girl. Fred and George slowly walked out into the corridor.
"Thanks," Fred muttered.
"Yeah. That was pretty cool of you."
"Of a Slytherin, you mean?"
Fred and George glanced at each other. "Maybe we were too quick to judge."
End of Flashback
"(Y/N), I don't care what house you were sorted into. You're my girlfriend. And we've been hiding for way too long." You sighed, knowing that was your fault. You had asked him to keep the relationship a secret, because you thought people would look at the both of you differently. Fred was the only one who knew. But George was tired of being a secret. It was against his nature.
You nodded. "I love you."
"I love you too," he said, taking your hand in his. "Now, let's break a few rules." He turned and led you towards the Great Hall.
