You were sitting down by the lake, staring at the water. It was dark, and you had no idea how long you had been out there. All you knew was that you wanted some peace and quiet. But you should have known that wasn't going to happen. This was Hogwarts, after all.

"(Y/N)!" You heard behind you. You quickly wiped one hand over your face, trying to get rid of any sign of tears. A red head sat down beside you with a sigh. You kept staring straight ahead, secretly hoping that he would go away. You didn't want him around you right now.

"He's not coming, you know," Fred said after a moment.

"W-what?" you stuttered.

"The giant squid. That's what you're doing out here, right?" You didn't reply. He shook his head.

"(Y/N), come on. I know that you really want to see it. But you've been out here all day. It's time to come in."

"I'll come up in a little while," you mumbled.

Fred frowned. Something was wrong. You had been quiet when he and his brother had first met you. But that was three years ago. Once you had gotten comfortable around them, you became a really outgoing and fun person. Like the twins themselves. Always up for an adventure. Or at least a joke or two.

He turned to look at you and saw it immediately. "Have you been crying?" he asked.

"Fred--"

"Who was it? It was Malfoy, right? I'll teach him a lesson." He actually started to stand up when you pulled on his sleeve.

"Fred, no. Malfoy didn't do anything."

"Then who was it?" he asked.

"Carter. That guy I...was dating," you muttered. Fred nodded to himself. You were a half-blood, and you often felt stuck between your two worlds. As a result, you had started dating a Muggle several months ago. Fred didn't really understand the appeal, but you had seemed happy enough. But then he caught the end of your statement.

"Was dating?" he repeated.

"I broke up with him. He...he cheated on me." You felt an arm on your shoulder and you pursed your lips.

"I guess I should have expected it," you said after a moment. "He's a magician."

"What's that?"

"Magicians are Muggles that use props and stuff to make people believe they...have magical powers. Muggle girls love them."

Fred stayed silent for several seconds, trying to process this new information.

"You dated a guy who does fake magic? You're the real deal!"

You shook your head and scoffed. "I thought it was kind of cute. Him pretending he was magic, I mean. But he was fake, just like his tricks." You felt the tears spring to your eyes again.

Fred moved closer, giving you a tight hug.

"Stop that," he murmured. You pulled away and looked up at him. He gingerly wiped the tears off your face.

"Don't you dare cry over him, okay? He was a jerk to you, and you deserve something so much more than that."

You nodded. "Thanks."

"And don't date down from now on."

You laughed softly. "Fred--"

"I mean that, (Y/N). You're an amazing person, and you deserve...real magic. Not whatever that guy had."

You blushed, moving a piece of hair behind your ear. Fred took your hand and held it in his own. You stared at him in surprise.

He slowly started to trace small circles on your skin with his thumb. You involuntarily shivered. He smirked.

"See? That's real," he murmured. You both slowly leaned closer to each other.

"Oi, Fred! There you are!" You bit your lip and grinned as Fred turned to glare at his twin standing a few meters away.

While he was distracted, you quickly pecked him on the cheek and took off running.

"Hey!" He raced after you, his long legs making him catch up easily.

You laughed as he picked you up and spun you around. He slowly brought you down and gave you a proper kiss. When you finally broke apart, George was still hovering.

"All right. What'd I miss?" he asked, looking between the two of you.

You grinned, staring up at Fred. "Something real."
