Once you both reached Shibazaki's office, you reviewed the case. "A homicide huh?" You looked at the description and you nodded rereading it a couple of times. You heard keys jingling and looked up, "You ready?" "Huh? Oh! We're going to the scene?" He nodded and you immediately ran to the door holding it open impatiently. "Hurry let's go!" You were mostly excited because it was your first case, and who wouldn't be excited about that? He chucked at your excitement remembering how he was the same way when he was your age. You practically flew into the car when he unlocked it. "Hey, Shiba-sensei, may I try something?" "Shiba? Yea sure." He watched what you were doing. You plugged your phone into the headphone jack and set the car radio to Aux. You pressed play. Suddenly the car was filled with the opening song from Law and Order. Shibazaki laughed amused at your attempt to feel like you were both on TV.
Once you reached the scene, you carefully exited the car knowing that it was time to be serious. Shibazaki went to speak with the witness and you decided to see the victim and what happened to them. As you approached the corpse, the police officer gave you a knowing look full of concern. You nodded that you were prepared to see the damage. Once the officer pulled back the blanket covering the body, you went pale, your eyes widened, your stomach churned, you were stiff, frozen where you stood. The body was covered in puncture wounds made only what could be made by a knife, fresh blood was everywhere, the victim's fingers and arms were bent in a way that they weren't supposed to, sockets where the eyes were supposed to be are now hollowed out, cuts and burns around the neck as if strands of wiring had attempted to make it's home there, the esophagus bare still barely bleeding out. Your eyes darted back and forth taking in every detail, not able to tell if it were male or female. You suddenly didn't feel well, you felt like vomiting and you began to smell strong iron and death seeping from the corpse. You finally felt the ability to move your legs. You ran to the nearest open garbage can that you could find. You vomited acid. No signs of food that you consumed that morning. You heard foot steps rushing to your side. Then, felt a hands supporting your body as you felt weak. And when you looked up, it was Shibazaki with a strong look of concern. You wiped your mouth with the back of your hand and buried your face into his chest crying a bit. Your heart was pounding, traumatized. "It's alright," he gently stroked your (h/l) (h/c) hair comforting you. "I know how you feel, this is what you signed up for. We'll see if we can get a new case for us t-" you shook you head quickly. "No, I'll continue this, I was just a bit taken back by the scene." You were determined to close this case and help this person rest in peace by finding their killer. "You're very interesting, most people would just call it quits after seeing something that disturbing, but you, (Y/n), you're different. You're very determined, I like that." He then gave you a smile that made your heart skip a beat. You blushed and looked down at your feet, unable to make eye contact with him. He pat your head. "You had enough for today, but you did something that a partner of a detective is supposed to do, you were braver than any other beginner that I've trained, normally they would follow me around not knowing what to do. Yet, you took charge and showed me that you're responsible and that you're fine with getting out of your comfort zone. I'm proud of you (Y/n)." You blush at his words. "Thank you, Shiba-sensei." You smiled brightly at him.
On your way home, you feel asleep in his car, your head resting against the car window.
~Time Skip~
You awoke to Shibazaki's face close to yours, inches away, close enough to kiss him but you decided to give it some time. So, you smiled gently at him. "Morning, how was that nap?" You yawned and stretched in response. He chucked and helped you out the car. "Thanks for the ride!" You yelled back to him as you ran to your building. You waved one last time before you entered.
As you took the elevator, you thought about Shibazaki and how he treats you so nicely. You then realized that whenever he's alone, he seems stressed, but whenever you came around, his entire demeanor changed from annoyed at his work, to being pleased to see you. You also realized that you were starting to have feelings for the man. You got off the elevator and walked to your apartment. Once you entered and locked the door, you walked to your room and threw yourself onto your bed and screamed into your pillow confused with your emotions. "What's happening to me?!" You then blasted the song "Grump It" from Game Grumps on your bluetooth stereo on repeat. It explains your situation at the moment and how your mind is reacting to all this.
