-Sorry this chapter is a little bit boring but I will try to update again in a few days-
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming to New York?" Andy asked as he followed me down the street. I rolled my eyes.
"Andy, I haven't talked to you in years why would I call you up to tell you that I am coming to New York? Plus I'm not here to party or see friends I'm trying to find a place to live and get a job."
"Exactly I haven't seen you in so long that we should catch up. Jorma says he doesn't hear much from you and I just..."
"Listen I kind of just want to go back to Jorm's place. I have had a long night. You did a good job tonight but this is just a lot for me to take in right now." I took a deep breath in and let it out. He was staring at me with his beautiful caramel eyes. As cliche as it sounds my heart and head were pulling me in 2 different directions. My head was telling me to leave and that I needed to think about myself but my heart was telling me to stay with him and let him make up for the fact that he broke my heart.
"I live 2 blocks from Jorm. Come to my place for a drink and then I can walk you back. I miss you." He spoke quietly to me so that I would not get more upset with him. I nodded and shivered a little bit. It was January and snow flakes were just starting to fall. He got a cab for the both of us. He opened the door and let me crawl into the back seat. The ride was only about 10 minutes but by the time we got to his house the snow was coming down rapidly. I held onto the railing as we walked up the stairs. He quickly unlocked the door and let me in.
"I can take your jacket." He put his arm out. I looked around his gorgeous house while simultaneously taking off my leather jacket. I was wearing a pair of dark wash jeans and plain grey t-shirt.
"You can sit in the living room while I get some drinks." I sat down on a red couch which faced a large TV. The couch was so soft I couldn't help but sit in the corner of it and get comfortable. I turned my head to the right and could see him in the kitchen. I had to admit that he looked cuter with age and I definitely missed his goofy smile. He put on a pot of coffee and was about to turn around and notice I was staring. Suddenly I heard a phone going off. I reached in to my pocket and looked at my screen. I read the name 'Jorma' and I bit my lip. I had no idea what I was supposed to say to him.
"Hello?" I said as I answered the phone. I still had no idea what to say.
"Hayley! Where the hell are you?"
"I...uh...I'm with...Andy" I started biting my nails as I waited for a response.
"Andy? Why are you with him?" I could tell he was more confused then ever. I gulped and took a deep breath before I answered.
"I saw him outside. He invited me to his place for a drink. I just wasn't feeling the party and I uh..."
"Well just be careful getting home because the snow is pretty bad."
"Ok Jorm. See you later." I hung up first so I wouldn't have to keep talking. I was nervous enough being at Andy's place never mind having to explain this to my cousin who is one of Andy's best friends. Andy came back in the room holding 2 black coffee mugs.
"Cream and sugar right?" He asked while handing me one of the mugs and I nodded yes.
"I thought coffee would be better then liquor saying as though it is pretty fucking cold." he said while sitting at the opposite corner of the couch. I grabbed a throw blanket that was put on the back of the couch and wrapped it around my shoulders because it was very cold even inside his house. After a few sips of coffee I turned toward him and sat with my legs criss-cross and my lower back up against the arm of the couch.
"You wanted to catch up?" I raised my eyebrows at him and took another sip of coffee.
"Uh...yeah,yeah... I do. So how is California?" He turned toward me but he continued staring in to his coffee and not looking back at me.
"It's been great. I have been working and hanging out with friends a lot." I was lying right through my teeth and thought I was getting away with it until he chuckled and took a sip of his coffee.
"That doesn't sound like what Jorm told me."
"Sorry I wanted to make my life sound a little more glamorous then it actually is."
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound like a dick. I was just told you were having a rough time out there but I didn't know you wanted to come up here."
"I didn't. Jorm and Kiv convinced me that New York would be better for me. I don't see that big of a difference in how my life is going but maybe it will get better."
"Well I'm in New York so that already makes it better." He looked up and winked at me and I let out a small laugh. There was silence after that. It wasn't awkward or anything it was kind of nice. But after a while there tension started to fill the room. Was I supposed to bring up the night at the party? Should he bring it up? I was starting to think it was a good time for me to leave until he finally spoke.
"Do you want to maybe watch a movie or something? "He moved into the center of the couch and put his coffee down on the coffee table and picked up the TV remote. He flipped through the pay per view and stumbled upon some stupid horror movie that neither of us had seen. As the movie started I was still pretty cold. I crawled my way to the middle of the couch and set my coffee down next to Andy's. I sat so close to him that our arms brushed up against each other. He glanced over at me and I completely unfolded the blanket and draped it over both of us. Every time something popped out in the movie I would jump a little bit and hide my face in Andy's shoulder which made him laugh. By the end of the movie I was resting head on him and his arm was around my shoulder. The credits rolled and I let out a loud yawn.
"Hey, you can crash at my place tonight. There is no use in bringing you home because it's pretty late and there is about 6 inches of snow on the ground."
I rubbed my eyes and nodded. I took my head off of his shoulder so he could get up. He came back seconds later with another blanket, pillow, and sweatpants for me.
"I think I'm going to hit the hay. If you need anything else my bedroom is upstairs. Ok?"
"Thanks" I said quietly and he just smiled back at me. I went to the bathroom and changed into the sweatpants he gave me. I got back into the living room and covered myself with blankets to try and stay warm. I realized that during the movie he had been keeping me warm. I texted Jorm to let him know I was staying the night. I sat on the couch for a few minutes wondering what I should do. I finally found the guts to get up, wrap one of the blankets around me, and walk upstairs. There were only 2 rooms up there and only one of the doors was closed and so I knocked on it.
"Come in" he said. I opened the door and immediately felt a burst of heat. His room was so nice and warm compared to the living room. I looked around the room and saw that he was in a door way to the bathroom that was connected to his room. He had just started brushing his teeth so I walked toward him and watched him until he was done. He wiped his mouth with a towel and laughed when he saw me.
"I'm guessing you were about to get hypothermia down there?" He walked past me to his bed and sat on it and was playing on his phone.
"Yeah it's a bit chilly..."
"Yeah the heat down there doesn't always like to work. I have been trying to find someone to fix it but I haven't had the time to call someone. C'mon you can sleep in here." He put down his phone and untucked the blankets. I was so cold that I didn't really hesitate to sit on his bed. I unwrapped the blanket around me and again laid it on both of us so we would be sure to stay warm. He pulled his comforter up so it was also covering us. We were on opposite sides of the bed but once he turned the light off we were staring into each other's eyes.
"Goodnight" he said and then yawned with exaggeration.
"Goodnight" I said back to him as I watched his eyes close.
