(Back to Niamh's Point Of View)
When I finally had the energy to rake open my eyes I found myself in a beautiful room. The walls were white with gold detail. The chandlers were spreading rainbow patterns all across the room. I was tucked into the comfiest bed i'd ever slept in. 'Why can't I just go back to sleep' I grumbled to myself. A few minutes later I mustered up the energy to get out of bed. I walked over to a white and gold dresser to see the time was only six thirty. On that note I headed down stairs. I assumed I was in Devon's house but I had never expected it to be this grand. I was just soaking up my surroundings when, embarrassingly, my stomach let out a bilious growl. "Glad to see you've awoken" Devon spoke in a deep voice. Heat flooded into my cheeks at the thought that he had herd the unwomanly noise my stomach had just produced. "You must be hungry" Devon smirked confirming he had herd the awful noise.
After we had eaten Devon said something that terrified me on the inside (of course I didn't show it). "To night is the only night you may be in danger. I will do everything I can to protect you but, they are coming to get you." With that he headed up stairs, I assumed he was going to bed. By this point I had so many questions; who are they? Why do they want me? Is it because of my birthday tomorrow? My mind was racing; I didn't know what to do. The confusion began to tire me again and soon I found myself getting back into bed. 'I'm sure I'll be fine' I thought trying to convince myself of safety as I fell back into a deep sleep.
BANG! I shot up from my bed sweat pouring down my face. It must have just been a dream I thought until I heard the bang again, only this time it was much louder. 'It's not a dream!' I screamed in my head as I began to panic. Suddenly my door burst open and a Sweaty Devon appeared. The look on his face told me instantly that I was in danger. He opened his mouth to speak and only one word came out "Run!" I did as I was told and bounded towards my window. Without a second thought I jumped landing hard on my feet. I started sprinting as fast as my legs could carry me towards the wood. Pushing my way through the fallen branches another bang was distinctly closer to me than ones in the house. I continued running as fast as I could, not taking any care of where I was going. After what felt like forever I came to a clearing in the woods. My body felt drained, I'd never run that much in my life and it was an obvious sign I wasn't very fit. I quickly scanned the area for any possible danger. It was clear. Dragging my heels I found a rock to sit on and slumped down. Only then I began to take in my surroundings.I was in an oval shaped clearing, few rocks and a small lake which I can imagine was a watering hole for local animals. Beginning to get my breath back I stood up. A cold wind swirled around me pushing away the hair that had fallen into my face. Sighing, I started walking in the opposite direction heading what I believed was north. Leaving the clearing I moved deeper into the woods. Until now I hadn't noticed the goose bumps prickled all over my bear arms. A chill rippled through my body and I began to shiver. Wrapping my arms around myself I pressed on into the woods. I walked for what felt like miles before an odd black mist began to pool at my feet. My shivering began to worsen. The eerie mist started to twist and turn up my legs. Panicking, I tried to run but it was as if the mist was holding me in place. Unsure of what to do now I began flailing my body about, using all the energy I had. Just as I was about to give up the mist let go receding back into the dark, creepy shadows of the forest. Without thinking I ran. I was running so fast the rest of the world felt like a blur.Exiting the woods I came to a harsh stop causing me to fall onto my hands and knees. I knew I was bleeding but felt no pain due to the sheer amount of adrenalin pumping through my body. Looking up, all I could see was a baron waste land, so empty and lifeless. For the first time in my life I genuinely felt that I was going to die.
