Chapter 4: Exchange?

After my very cliché encounter with very attractive Tyler, I had to head off to class because being late resulted in detention, and I couldn't afford that, considering the situation with my mother at home. I couldn't leave Clara alone with her. I'd be a monster if I did that.

I readjusted my backpack on my shoulders and headed off to my first class of the day, Chemistry. As soon as I walked through the door to Mr. Fensky's room, the tardy bell rang, signaling that if you weren't in class, you were late.

"You're cutting it close, Lukasiak." Mr. Fensky scolded me as I sat down in a desk placed in the middle of the room.

"But, I'm not late. So no detention for me." I said matter of factly, putting down my backpack on the floor in the process.

"Don't make it a habit, Chloe. One of these days you'll be late and when you are-" He paused to turn to his desk and grabbed a small notepad full of detention slips."-one of these pretty pink slips will have your name on it."

I saluted him from my spot in the room."Sir, yes sir!"

Mr. Fensky rolled his eyes as he placed his pad of detention slips back onto his desk. "Now today, we're going to continue our notes on ionic and covalent bonds, so please take out your binders and get a pencil out."

Everyone in the class groaned as we took out our chemistry binders to write down more notes. Chemistry is never really anyone's favorite subject, considering you have to put a lot of math into it, and if you're anything like me, math is not your strongest subject. Therefore, if you suck at math, naturally, you're gonna suck at chemistry.

While I attempted to listen to Mr. Fensky talk passionately about ionic bonds, a piece of folded up paper landed on top of my notes. I curiously opened the note to read what it said:

Fancy seeing you here in Room 105 Chemistry.

I looked in the direction the note came from and spotted very attractive Tyler sitting halfway across the room. He was busy actually trying to take notes, but I could tell he was attempting to hide a smile.

I rolled my eyes and wrote my answer down underneath his note:

I didn't realize I had a stalker.

Satisfied with my answer, I folded the paper back up and passed it to the kid next to me that originally passed the note to me and he gave it back to Tyler.

I heard the sound of ruffling paper as I wrote down a few notes. Then, a few minutes later, the same piece of paper landed back onto my desk.

I opened it up and tried not to laugh at Tyler's reply:

I did not ask for you to get sassy with me, Missy.

I chuckled quietly and threw the note on the floor, not caring if he saw. Sadly, I had to actually pay attention in Chemistry.

But it was so hard when I could feel very attractive Tyler's eyes burning a hole in the side of my head.
.-.-.-.-.

The bell to go to second hour finally rang after what seemed like ages. Kids quickly began to gather their stuff as Mr. Fensky yelled out the homework assignment that was due the next day.

I quickly stuffed my binder and pencil bag into my backpack before getting up and walking out of the class. I was about to reach the stairwell to head upstairs when I heard a familiar voice call my name.

"Chloe! Wait up, Long Legs!"

I laughed loudly at the nickname as I turned around to face very attractive Tyler. His face was slightly red from running after me, but his green eyes were as bright as ever.

"Long Legs? Why not Sonic or Speedy? You're making me sound like a spider." I said with a smile.

"I mean, you have long legs and they reminded me of that spider with long legs. So, Long Legs it is." He answered.

I rolled my eyes and chuckled."You needed something?"

Tyler's eyes went wide as he remembered he had something to say."Oh! Right! Um, I was wondering, if you uh... Wanted to exchange?"

I raised an eyebrow and cracked a smile at his wording."Exchange? What do you mean by that?"

Tyler's cheeks turned even more red as he realized his mistake, which only made me laugh."That's not what I meant! I meant exchange numbers!"

I started laughing harder, which only made Tyler blush more. I stood up straight again and pinched one of his cheeks."Awe, is wittle Tywer embawwessed??"

Tyler pulled his face away from my hands and sighed."Nah. Nothing embarrasses me that much."

I laughed."Tell me that again when your cheeks aren't the color of a fire truck."

Tyler smiled."Just answer the question."

Once I finished laughing at his embarrassment, I grabbed his hand and pulled a pen out of my pocket. I wrote my number on his hand and he did the same for me.

"That answer your question?" I asked.

"That it does." He replied.

"Well, I've gotta go before I'm late to class. Text me later." I said, waving goodbye before heading up the stairs.

When I reached my Spanish class, I sat down in the front of the room and pulled out my journal and my phone. While I waited for class to start, I scrolled through Twitter. But an unknown number interrupted my scrolling.

Unknown: hey it's Tyler! :P

Me: didn't I say text me later?

Unknown: technically, it is later lol

I rolled my eyes at his corniness, but smiled anyway.

This guy just had a way with words, huh?
