"Crap! I'm sorry." I say frantically as I bend down to pick up his things littering the floor.
"It's fine. I wasn't paying attention," he says as he picks up the last of his papers and stands up.
I see now he is a doctor. Tall with orange-red hair and piercing blur eyes.
"Hi. I'm Dr. Hunt." He introduces himself and reaches to shake my hand.
"Hi. I'm Blake," I say and shake his hand .
"Are you here for someone Blake?" he asks, looking around the hallway.
"Um... yes," I say lying, "My cousin is sick and I just left her room. She's resting"
He glances at my wrist, which I now notice my sleeve pushed up my arm to reveal the start of my bruises. I quickly pull them down.
"What's that?" he says reaching slightly for my wrist, which I pull back immediately.
"Nothing!" I say all to quickly,"I have to go. Bye!" I say as I take off, rather quickly, for the door, before he can ask more questions.
I can hear him yell my name but I'm already out the door before he can catch up.
I don't look back as I get outside in the hot, smothering air. I keep running until I'm another block over.
Stupid! Fucking idiot! I scold myself as I lean over against a brick wall to catch my breath. My side hurts and my lungs seem to have shrunken in size. My heart is racing, half from the encounter and half from the running.
I check my watch to realize the time, only now noticing the sun setting.
6:47
SHIT! I yell silently as I sprint off to the house.
*at the house*
I open the door as silently as I can. As I walk into the kitchen, heart beating, I see the furious look in his eyes before hearing the yelling coming from his mouth.
