I walked slowly towards the huge manor, breathing deeply. I walked up to the door, pulled in my breath, but turned away. I glanced at the forest. A raccoon scuttled outside the branches. It looked towards me, then disappeared.

"Do it." Someone whispered in my head. I turned back around and wrapped at the door.

A beautiful woman with indeed long red hair swished into view. She put a hand to her mouth.

"Anatha? Anatha, have you returned?" She whispered. I stepped into the light.

"Yes. Mother..." I whispered, tears forming in my eyes. She reached out and squeezed me.

"Your back. Your finally back." She kept whispering. A man ran over to his wife.

"Is that you, Anatha?" He whispered, and pulled me in too. I grinned into his jacket, but wiped it away.

"I haven't grown with the name Anatha very much. Can you call me Crimson? I gave my self that name." I whispered. They nodded, and hugged me tighter.

"I was playing in the forest. All I remember is hands, reaching for me. I tried to scream for Dad but they silenced me. I was in a dark room. For a very, very long time. Food under my door three times a day. No one ever came for me. No one ever looked for me. One day a man opened my door for no reason. That had been the first time the door opened. Another man ran up to him. They yelled at each other. It had been the first talk I had heard in years. The man who opened the door demanded that they let me go. They pulled me roughly from the cell.                                                                                                                             But they didn't let me go. They did experiments on me. One day they threw me out into an oil puddle outside, and left me. My blood stained the oil red. I remember that. Scotland Yard found me, but I didn't remember anything of my past. They dropped me off at a children's home.                                           Just the other day, I saw the same oil puddle. It was somehow still there. After that, my memorys slowly returned. But the loneliness. I did have a friend, but she disappeared. Probably dead now. I was so lonely. Then I remembered you. Oh mother, father, Im not alone anymore!" I told them, spreading my arms. They smiled. But my father, Daniel, sighed.

"How can we be sure your our daughter? Many have tried. You were the first to look exactly like us, but when you disappeared, you had a ring. It was garnet in an oval, and banded with silver around your thumb, like my green one. Where is it?"

My smile on the inside dropped. I didn't have a ring. But suddenly a thump landed in my pocket, and the same voice.

"Here it is. Keep quiet." It whispered. I pulled it out.

They stared at the beautiful ring in joy. I slipped it on my finger.

"I am your Lady Crimson Garnet Swan LaFontaine, daughter of Earl Daniel LaFontaine and Lady Celina LaFontaine." I said, standing. My mothers eyes swimmed in proudness, and my father nodded to me.

I finally have a home.
