"A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week."
-General George Patton
Thomas' POV
Thomas stepped into the store and looked at state of the place. It was adequate, for the most part. But for some strange reason he felt a sense of dread stepping into the dark space.
"Yer goan tae keep walkin', right?" Jacey complained from behind him, narrowing her eyes impatiently.
"Wha-?" Thomas then realized he had been standing still just inside the doorway between the light and the dark. He shook his and let out a sigh, continuing to walk into the store.
"I'll show you guys what room you can stay in. The manager's office should be large enough for the rest of you." Mitch led Thomas into the store, the group following behind, "It's funny, I assumed Jacob would be the leader of the people he was with, guess i was wrong."
"Huh?" Thomas asked confused but then realized the way he had presented himself, "Oh well since he's been gone I-...well I wouldn't say I took charge but," Thomas thought for a moment, "It's complicated."
"Life, my friend, Always is. " Mitch opened the door to the manager's office. Thomas sighed, looking at the small room. The room had a large desk leaning to one side and different papers were sprawled out on the floor. The dim light flickered in the office, giving the shadows a shifting appearance. For a split second, Thomas' skin ran cold, seeing his shadow's sword look like a bat tied to its back.
"Raaaaaattttt...wake up Raaaaaattttt..."
Thomas woke up groggily, barely able to open his eyes. He yawned and laid back down.
"Rat I swear to God I will hit you with this bat."
Thomas chuckled a little, "No you wouldn't." He said mockingly.
"Oh yeah and what makes ya think that you little runt!" Don retorted shoving the tip of the bat into Thomas' tired face.
"Cause you love me too much." Thomas said opening one eye and smirking at his older brother. Don sighed and put the bat on his shoulder.
"Come on Rat get your uniform on. We're playing those jackasses from Third Street."
Thomas rubbed his eyes and shook his head driving the memory out.
Jacob's POV
The two drove, Amber with her arms wrapped around Jacob as they soared down the barren road, trying to get to Callie's as fast as they can. Turning a corner, Jacob stopped, turning the Bike to it's side.
"Well what do we have here, two great warriors ready to die." Khan stepped out from his truck, four men following him, "So Jacob's not dead, honestly didn't see that one coming. I thought you'd of made your way to Valhalla two weeks back. Such a shame you'll be going now."
"I don't see a single gun on you, and it looks like a train hit you. Was the Batter a little teed off?" Jacob's cocky grin came out, stepping off the bike.
"A warrior of Valhalla doesn't need guns, and it was that bitch on your bike that gave me what I have currently," Khan snapped his fingers, four men exiting the car, all brandishing swords of some kind. One of them had a long sword, another with a broadsword and a man with a claymore. The other two were both brandishing short swords, "Let's make a deal, you beat my warriors and I'll let you leave, hell I'll even ignore telling the Batter you're alive. But, you have to fight alone."
Jacob looked at Amber, who had a worried look upon her face. He smiled and nodded his head to her, walking towards Khan, "You have a deal. Warriors with honor, I presume? I'll fight each one right after defeating the prior."
